Girls Aloud release I’ll Stand By You (Sarah’s Version) for BBC Children In Need
Girls Aloud has unveiled a fresh rendition of "I'll Stand By You," featuring the late Sarah Harding as the lead singer, to support BBC Children In Need.
The group initially launched their rendition of The Pretenders' 1994 ballad two decades ago as the official single for the charity in 2004, achieving the top spot on the UK charts.
Harding's never-before-heard lead vocals were found while assembling content for their 2024 reunion tour. The song "I’ll Stand By You (Sarah’s Version)" was released on Friday, November 15, coinciding with the charity telethon event.
"During our arena tour this summer, the song was a significant highlight of 'The Girls Aloud Show' and it brought a lot of emotions for everyone involved," the members of Girls Aloud shared in a collective statement.
Chrissie Hynde, the lead singer of the Pretenders and co-writer of the song alongside Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, expressed her delight by saying, “It’s amazing to hear Sarah Harding’s beautiful voice shining through I’ll Stand By You for BBC Children in Need. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!”
The money raised from the single will support BBC Children In Need initiatives that help children in various communities throughout the UK.
