According to reports, James Corden and Ruth Jones, who are responsible for creating Gavin and Stacey, will start shooting an all-new Christmas episode this year.
As per Deadline's report, the show is set to end its five-year break and commence shooting the latest episode during the summer season. The objective is to broadcast the episode before Christmas in 2024.
The final installment of the comedy program was broadcasted on December 25, 2019; however, spectators have been eagerly wishing for the series to make a comeback and disclose the destiny of the personalities following an ambiguous conclusion.
According to Deadline, the episode is currently being planned and filming will start in a couple of months. The show is being produced by Baby Cow Productions owned by Steve Coogan, Tidy Productions owned by Jones, and Fulwell 73 which is jointly owned by Corden.
The Independent has reached out to representatives for Jones and Corden, as well as the production companies involved, to request a comment. However, the BBC has chosen not to provide a statement at this time.
The plot of Gavin and Stacey centers around a couple who begin their romance through phone calls and ultimately decide to cohabitate. The families of the pair are equally captivating, with one hailing from Billericay, Essex and the other from Barry Island, Wales.
In the concluding moments of the 2019 segment, Nessa (portrayed by Jones) got down on a solitary knee and requested Smithy's hand in marriage (performed by Corden). Nevertheless, we are left hanging as the episode ends without any indication of his reply.
According to sources, most of the lead actors are expected to make a comeback for the special program. Besides Corden and Jones, other Gavin and Stacey actors such as Matthew Horne and Joanna Page in the main positions, as well as Rob Brydon portraying Uncle Bryn, Melanie Walters as Stacey's mother Gwen West, Julia Davis as Dawn Sutcliffe, and Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb as Gavin's parents who tend to be pushy.

Steadman, who portrays the character of Pam, Gavin's mother in the series, confessed that she's keen on participating in another special episode. However, they didn't hint at any possible revival of the show.

During that period, Corden's collaborator and fellow actor was situated in another location, residing in the United States where he was finishing up his eight-year tenure as a presenter on the Late Late Show.
