In a recent chat with the BBC, Oldman, who took home an Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe for his role as Sir Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, openly talked about not receiving any recognition from the royal family.

"I really have no idea. Maybe you should try asking them. The royals didn't give me a nod for any honour, but that's just the way it is," Oldman responded when asked about not receiving an honor.

The veteran actor, who has been working in the industry for more than 40 years, said optimistically, "Perhaps it's something that will happen to me eventually."

The accomplishments of Oldman consist of being nominated for three Academy Awards and receiving praise for his performances in movies like Sid and Nancy, Dracula, and The Dark Knight Trilogy.

His circumstances are very different from most other British actors, as he is the only one to have won the Best Actor Oscar in the 21st century without receiving a royal honor.

Gary Oldman is optimistic that he still may receive recognition from the royal family.

Other actors like Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, and Sir Kenneth Branagh have been knighted, especially after winning big at the Oscars.

Mark Rylance was given a knighthood in 2017, the year after he won Best Supporting Actor for Bridge of Spies. Colin Firth was awarded a CBE in 2011 after his Oscar-winning performance in The King's Speech, while Olivia Colman received the same honor in 2019 for her role in The Favourite.

In 2016, Eddie Redmayne was awarded an OBE for his outstanding performance in The Theory of Everything, which also earned him the Best Actor award. Kate Winslet was honored with a CBE in 2012, three years after winning an Oscar for her role in The Reader.

Right now, Oldman is experiencing great success in his debut regular television role as Jackson Lamb in the Apple TV+ show Slow Horses.

The actor has played some of the most iconic roles in the history of movies throughout their career.

The upcoming fourth season of the show has received great feedback, particularly for Oldman's performance as the messy MI5 agent. He won the Best Actor BAFTA for his role earlier this year.

He is expected to win his first Emmy award for his role next month and jokingly talked about his character's bad habits, like passing gas: "These are the discussions that come up."

"You see, since this one is on a leather chair, it should be sturdier."

The fourth season will be available for watching on AppleTV+ starting on September 4th.

Gary Oldman described his portrayal of Sirius Black as "average."

Oldman's professional life has featured standout performances in popular movie series. He played the character Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films, first appearing in The Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004.

The 66-year-old still thinks deeply about his acting, and in a recent interview, he said that he considers his work in the Harry Potter movies to be just average.

Nevertheless, he made it clear that he did not intend to offend any fans of Harry Potter or the movies.

As Oldman continues to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry, the issue of being recognized by royalty is still up in the air. Although he is shocked by the lack of acknowledgement, he remains optimistic.
