Birmingham City sack manager Garry Monk after 15 months in charge

Birmingham City have sacked manager Garry Monk.  The former Swansea, Leeds and Middlesbrough boss took over ar St Andrews 15 months ago.  Monk, 40, led the Blues to seventeenth in the Championship last term after a nine-point deduction.  But there have been reports all was not well between Monk and Blues chief executive Xuandong Ren as they allowed Jota to join promoted bitter local rivals Aston Villa.  And despite Monk\'s assurances, the club feared he was going to be around for the duration of next season and opted to show him the door.  His assistant Pep Clotet will take over as interim boss.  A club statement read: \"Birmingham City has today parted company with manager Garry Monk.  \"The Board of Directors believe this to be in the long term interests of the Club.  \"We thank Garry for his efforts and we wish him the best for the future.  \"Pep Clotet has been appointed caretaker Head Coach and the remainder of the coaching and backroom staff – incl
