Liam Clements mentioned that his project had caught the eye of many people in the community.

The latest updates from BBC News in the West Midlands region.

A soccer enthusiast transformed a Santa Claus mannequin to resemble England coach Gareth Southgate and has received a lot of praise for it, even though the team hasn't been performing well in the Euros.

Liam Clements mentioned that his family found the dummy in a dumpster close to their house in Rugby, Warwickshire.

People walking by have paused to take pictures of themselves and drivers are honking their horns, according to him.

However, he confessed that the duplicate was close to being thrown in the trash on Sunday before Jude Bellingham's goal saved England's chances.

"He described it as a difficult game to watch," he mentioned. "The only good thing is that we made it to the quarterfinals, that's all I can comment on."

Detailing the origins of the Southgate replica, Mr. Clements gave credit to his parents.

"Approximately two months ago, we were sitting in the backyard enjoying some drinks when my parents stopped by," he recalled.

"They strolled to their neighborhood store, and on their way back, they saw a man clearing out a house, throwing away a bunch of items into a dumpster. Surprisingly, he had a life-sized Santa Claus figure."

Approximately five minutes after they departed, they returned with my father holding a large Santa Claus figure. I exclaimed, 'Fantastic, let's transform that into a full-sized Gareth Southgate'.

"I climbed into the wardrobe, found an old suit, and my mom used her sewing skills to mend it together with all her sewing supplies."

Additionally, Mr. Clements proudly displays a flag outside his residence.

Even though he proudly displayed a lifelike model of the England manager and a flag declaring "Southgate you're the one" outside his home, Mr. Clements voiced his dissatisfaction with the manager's choices throughout the tournament.

Even though Sunday's game against Slovakia marked Southgate's 100th match as England's manager, Mr. Clements indicated that he didn't think Southgate would stay in the position for too much longer.

We require a more aggressive strategy and a youthful, ambitious leader.

He mentioned that the Southgate copy would stay outside his house and said "let's wait and see what happens this Saturday".

I am not excited about it. Switzerland gave a strong performance against Italy recently, so I am feeling a bit nervous about the upcoming game. I have faith in Southgate to lead us to victory.
