The Game Awards 2024: full list of nominees and how to vote
The organizers of The Game Awards have revealed the video games nominated this year in 29 different categories.
Although a group of journalists and influencers is responsible for selecting the nominees and deciding most of the outcomes, you also have the opportunity to cast your own vote.
Audience votes make up 10% of the overall total. Additionally, there’s a Player’s Voice category that relies solely on audience voting, featuring three rounds that kick off on December 2.
Voting wraps up at 2 AM on Thursday, December 12, just a few hours before the event starts. The showcase will be held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Due to the time difference between the US and the UK, the event kicks off at 12:30 AM on Friday, December 13, our time—and you’ll be able to catch it online.
The Games Awards were created in 2014 by Geoff Keighley, a well-known journalist and producer in the gaming industry, to honor the top video games, developers, and creators of the year.
Who are some of the standout nominees this year? Balatro has earned an impressive five nominations, including for Game of the Year. This is a fantastic accomplishment, especially considering it was primarily developed by a single individual.
The organizers had to clarify right before the nominations were revealed that downloadable content (DLC) and expansions would be accepted in the main categories. This set the stage for the inclusion of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. This expansion for Elden Ring has received four nominations, notably for Game of the Year and Best RPG.
