Freddie Flintoff is returning to television tonight as the host of the revamped darts quiz show Bullseye, two years after enduring significant injuries from a terrible car accident.
The legendary England cricketer was announced as the host for a special Christmas edition of the beloved show earlier this year. He expressed his amazement at being chosen for the role, especially since he had watched it as a child.
"I've always enjoyed darts, and Bullseye was one of my favorite programs when I was younger," Flintoff expressed after his role on ITV was announced. "I can't believe I'll have the chance to host this Christmas special. You really can't go wrong with some Bully!"

The 47-year-old made his television comeback this year with the second season of his popular BBC series, Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams. The show centered on his efforts to return to his hometown of Preston, where he aimed to establish a new cricket team made up of teenagers, and later took them on a trip to India.
He had stepped away from television for a considerable period after experiencing a life-altering accident while filming Top Gear in December 2022. This incident ultimately prompted him to leave his position as a co-host on the famous BBC program.
Flintoff, who co-hosted the program with Chris Harris and Paddy McGuinness, was driving an open-top three-wheeled car at a speed of 130mph on the show’s test track when the vehicle flipped over due to icy conditions. The former cricketer didn’t have an airbag in the car and ended up with several broken ribs. He also sustained severe facial injuries after his face scraped along the pavement.
He was quickly taken to the hospital, while his wife Rachael hurried from their home in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, to join him in Surrey. Flintoff is said to have gone through four hours of surgery as doctors worked to repair the serious facial injuries he sustained.
Once Rachael got to the hospital, a surgeon allegedly advised her to "prepare for the worst" since her husband's condition was still unclear.
After the accident, Flintoff ended up with significant facial scars on the side of his nose and across his chin. However, it was the emotional trauma that affected him the most. He eventually confessed that he had been dealing with anxiety, nightmares, and flashbacks for several months following the incident.
Following his departure from Top Gear and a significant compensation deal with the BBC, Flintoff has made a comeback to television and cricket over the last year. He served as an assistant coach for England's white-ball teams and led the Northern Superchargers' men's squad in The Hundred. Recently, he was appointed the head coach of the England Lions.
In his position, Flintoff manages a team focused on nurturing young talent in English cricket. He has already included his son Rocky in the lineup for their upcoming tour of Australia next year. At just 16, Rocky signed his first professional contract with Lancashire this summer and is being widely regarded as someone likely to emulate his father's success and potentially achieve full international recognition in the future.
Flintoff’s father has received support in his healing process from his wife, former model Rachael, who allegedly urged him to take time off work to focus on his recovery after the accident that changed his life. The pair has been married since 2005, after meeting three years prior, and they are now parents to four children.
