The famous TV host and ex-professional cricket player suffered severe facial wounds and fractured ribs during an accident while shooting Top Gear at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey in December 2022.

The event occurred while shooting the second season of the TV show Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams, which was shown on BBC One yesterday.

The show displayed video that Flintoff recorded of himself ten days after the accident.

"He really shouldn't be here after what happened," he said in the video.

This journey ahead will be challenging, and I've only just begun. I'm already facing some difficulties.

I choose to focus on the good things - I am grateful to be alive and have a new opportunity. I am determined to make the most of this second chance.

Video shot seven months after the crash showed Flintoff thinking about if he could go to India for the show. The series follows the former cricketer as he mentors a group of young people from difficult situations.

Flintoff, aged 46, expressed difficulties in going outside because of feelings of anxiousness. He also mentioned experiencing bad dreams and memories coming back to him after the incident.

"I thought I could easily brush it away," he stated.

I tried to brush it off and reassure myself that everything was okay, but it has been much more difficult than I anticipated.

I've been really keen on getting out and getting stuff done, but it just hasn't happened.

He stated: "I don't want to dwell on my situation. I don't seek pity, but it's a big change going from spending seven months here to traveling to India for two and a half weeks."

The show highlighted how Flintoff eventually was able to go on his trip to India, which was postponed for over a year because of his accident.

Due to the incident, he decided to take a break from Top Gear, which has now been put on hold indefinitely by the BBC.

In the past, the BBC announced that it had reached a financial agreement with Flintoff, reportedly valued at £9 million by The Sun.

Flintoff is back in cricket as a member of the England coaching team, and is now in his first-ever full-time coaching role with the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.
