FLEETWOOD TOWN

It hasn’t been a great start to the new year in terms of the league for Fleetwood. No win now since New Year’s Day and that run extended last Saturday after a last-minute loss to Burton Albion. However, Fleetwood have had a good run in the FA Cup so far, having beat Ebbsfleet, Oxford City and Queens Park Rangers respectively, while also picking up a draw with the Owls which takes the Cods to Tuesday night’s replay.

Scott Brown was able to field all three of the late January transfer window signings. Corrie Nbada started in the heart of defence while both Jack Marriott and Jayden Stockley led the line.

In the 3-2 loss at the hands of Burton, Stockley did get on the scoresheet after a nice move from the Fleetwood attack, but it wasn’t the best outing for the team with the game being snatched from them by Stockley’s former Charlton teammate, Charlie Kirk in the dying seconds.

The man with the heroics at Hillsborough last time out though, Promise Omochere was on hand to continue his great scoring record with a goal in Saturday’s game so Fleetwood will have the advantage of having him in the squad for this midweek tie.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

Tuesday’s visitors on the other hand, Sheffield Wednesday have been seeing a contrasting vein of form to Town. The Owls haven’t suffered a league defeat since they faced Plymouth back in October but beat Argyle in the return fixture last time out to go top of League One.

]It was only Fleetwood who halted Wednesday’s run of six straight wins when the two teams drew in the Cup game at the end of January. It was just a 1-0 victory over Plymouth for Wednesday last weekend, but the goal was scored early, and Darren Moore’s men played their effective style of football that guided them towards the win which has since made many people label them as the best team in the league.

For this Fourth Round replay, a trip to either Ipswich or Burnley is on the cards and the South Yorkshire-based side will be doing all they can to keep Highbury quiet on Tuesday.
