All About Finn Cole, Florence Pugh’s Rumored Boyfriend

Finn Cole

Two years after announcing her split from Zach Braff, Florence Pugh shared with British Vogue that she’s now in a new relationship. In an interview in September 2024, she expressed, “I truly believe that if magic exists, it’s found in falling in love. I adore the experience of falling in love. I enjoy caring for others and cherishing those connections. I love the comfort of having someone close to me who thinks about me, just as I care about them. At this stage of my life, I’m focused on making the right choices to achieve what I truly want—safety, family, a home, and a sense of belonging.”

She didn't mention her partner by name, but discussed how their relationship is constantly changing: “We’re trying to understand what we truly mean to each other. For the first time, I’m not letting myself get swept up in the highs and lows. I’m giving us the time to evolve naturally and allow it to be authentic from the start, instead of rushing in.” Regarding this budding romance, she noted, “Falling in love is an incredible experience, but if that’s all you focus on in a relationship, then that’s what you end up pursuing. That feeling won’t last forever.”

Pugh's comments follow a report from The Sun on September 4, which suggested that she is in a clandestine relationship with Finn Cole, a 28-year-old actor known for his role in Peaky Blinders. Just a day prior, the two were spotted leaving the after-party for The Perfect Couple's London premiere together. A source told the Daily Mail, "I noticed them holding hands at the after-party held at The Hoxton hotel."

Although the two actors haven't officially acknowledged a romantic relationship, they have shown their support for each other as friends for quite some time. Given Pugh's recent interview and their latest public appearance together, let's take a closer look at Cole and his ties to the British actress.

Pugh Seeks Partner For Future Family Life

Pugh shared with British Vogue how her experience on We Live in Time influenced her perspective on love. She noted, "I was at a pivotal age when this film came into my life. Last year, I was dealing with some unusual challenges in my relationships, and I realized that the message of the film is about taking an active role in love rather than just letting it happen to you. I’m eager to seek out true love and start a family."

She expressed that the desire to have children has been a long-standing dream of hers: "I've always had thoughts about starting a family," she shared. "Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to be a parent. The idea of a large family really appeals to me, especially since I grew up in a big family myself. I adore being around children and always gravitate towards them at gatherings. It's so much simpler to connect with them. I appreciate their straightforwardness and how quickly they can become bored. My wish to have kids has never faded; it’s just a matter of deciding the right time."

Pugh Won't Share Details About Her Love Life

Pugh shared some thoughts on her past relationship with Zach Braff, but emphasized to British Vogue that she values her privacy. “I want to shield anyone I’m with from negativity,” she explained. “It’s tough to see people saying hurtful things about someone I care about. That’s why I felt it was important to address it [Braff]. Any relationship in the public eye is bound to face challenges.”

"Pugh And Cole's Secret Romance Revealed"

A source told a British tabloid that Cole and Pugh were involved in a relationship that they were attempting to keep private.

According to a source for The Sun, Florence Pugh and Finn Cole attended the after-party for the London premiere of The Perfect Couple on September 3. The insider mentioned, "Florence and Finn looked very much like a couple and were enjoying themselves." They maintained a low profile throughout the premiere and the party, leaving together through a back exit and getting into the same vehicle. Their presence was to support friends involved in the film, and they appeared eager to avoid the spotlight. The two seemed quite happy in each other’s company, but they made a swift departure as the event was coming to an end. The Daily Mail featured photos of them and confirmed that they left in the same car.

Meet Cole: 28-Year-Old British Actor

Cole rose to fame with his role as Michael Gray in *Peaky Blinders*. His older brother, Joe Cole, portrays John Shelby, who is Michael's cousin on the series, and played a key role in helping him secure the audition. In an interview with *Interview* magazine back in June 2016, Cole reflected on his experience, saying, “*Peaky Blinders* was my first true taste of acting, and it was incredibly intense. You learn so much in such high-pressure situations, and I certainly did. My brother had the script for the second season—they'd already wrapped the first—and he mentioned there was a fantastic role that would be perfect for me. One thing just led to another, and soon I found myself auditioning with Colm McCarthy, Shaheen Baig, and Laurie Borg. I felt a sense of confidence because there wasn’t any pressure on me; I didn’t feel like I had to land the part. In fact, I was quite skeptical about my chances of actually getting the role.”

Cole's Acting Journey Began In Kingston, London

In a 2016 interview, Cole shared, “My interest in acting began while I was in school. I was around a lot of people who were passionate about it. I had a favorite teacher who really encouraged me and introduced me to acting. I always enjoyed making people laugh and found it really thrilling. During my childhood, acting was more of a fun activity; my friends and I would put on performances together. At 17, I joined the National Youth Theatre, which was an amazing experience since I was surrounded by others my age who shared the same passion.”

He was quite passionate about rugby, as he mentioned to Gentlemen’s Journal in late 2017. “I would really enjoy continuing to play,” he expressed. “However, if you attempt to play it in a ‘safe’ manner, you may end up getting hurt more severely.”

British Scorpio Actor Born In 1995

Cole entered the world on November 9, 1995, in Kingston, London, which makes him a Scorpio. Pugh, on the other hand, is a Capricorn; she was born on January 3, 1996, in Oxford, England. According to the AstroTwins in ELLE, both Scorpios and Capricorns are known for their strong business acumen and can achieve great things if they embrace transparency instead of keeping things hidden.

The AstroTwins described them as experts in subtle manipulation that could quickly derail this merger. As you strengthen your connection, focus on improving your straightforward communication skills. Once you have that down, everything else will be easy.

Cole: Fame Didn't Change My Daily Life In 2017

Even though Cole has landed prominent roles, he shared with Gentlemen’s Journal in the November/December 2017 issue that he can still go unnoticed in public. He mentioned, “There have been moments when I’ve been in a restaurant and I notice someone staring at me for a while, and I start to think they might know who I am. But I never say anything.”

Cole Praises Margot Robbie For His Acting Growth

Cole has acted alongside top stars like Anya Taylor-Joy in *Peaky Blinders* and Margot Robbie in the 2019 film *Dreamland*. In a conversation with Variety in November 2020, he shared his experience of working with the Australian actress. “On the train to my audition in London to meet Margot, I was really anxious,” he recalled. “I had done all my preparation, but I was scared I might blank on my lines. I think that speaks to how impressive I found Margot, as I don’t usually feel that way. However, once she entered the room and we started interacting, my nerves disappeared instantly. She has such a warm presence, and from the very beginning, it felt like we were in it together. She was attentive and listened to everything I had to say, and I gained so much from her. I truly believe she helped me become a better actor.”

Cole Reveals His Fascination With Playing Sociopaths

Variety spoke with him about his characters, Michael from Peaky Blinders and J from Animal Kingdom, noting that both are drawn into criminal activities. Cole shared, “I'm interested in people who thrive in that lifestyle and those who don't. I'm curious about what drives someone to make certain choices without feeling guilt or remorse. I like to explore what leads a person to take such a path. Maybe that makes me a little sociopathic; I can’t say for sure. We don’t often hear about people who lead ordinary lives—paying taxes, managing bills, having mortgages, and raising kids. There’s a reason we hear more about figures like Billy the Kid.”

In his 2016 interview, he highlighted the differences between the two characters. “Michael is definitely a more intense and somewhat sociopathic individual, which can be quite draining, but I have fewer scenes with him,” he explained. “On the other hand, J is like a survivor in a wild environment. He has learned how to conceal his emotions and plans, making him hard to read. While they are quite distinct characters, they share some commonalities—they’re both young and navigating their way through these families, lifestyles, and gangs. Their approaches to challenges and their circumstances vary greatly. J is on a journey to discover who he is and where he fits in; he's not a threat at this point. In contrast, Michael is a predator, determined to rise to the top and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.”

"Getting into these characters is always a lot of fun," he shared. "When I play J, I keep up an American accent throughout the day to help me stay immersed. I also find that embracing a sense of immaturity is essential. I don’t usually maintain Michael’s accent, but I might try it next time since my accent isn’t perfect. Both of these roles, like all the characters I portray, tap into parts of me that I’ve wanted to explore—they really reflect who I am. It’s relatively easy for me to connect with them because their experiences often mirror my own reactions. They have thoughts and feelings I've also experienced. I draw on my own experiences and then push those aspects a little further."
