Fern Britton has shared her thoughts on how much she is relishing her life as a single woman.

The 65-year-old ex-host of This Morning parted ways with TV chef Phil Vickery in 2020. They had been together for over 20 years and have a daughter named Winnie who is now 22.

Britton revealed the end of her marriage a month following the passing of her father, Tony Britton, known for his role in Don't Wait Up, in December 2019.

While guesting on James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen this weekend, Britton expressed her joy at finally being in control of her own choices now that she is a single woman.

“I love being able to relax in the morning and enjoy as much daytime TV as I want. There’s no one around to criticize me, and I don’t need to put on any makeup or get dressed up,” she shared.

"I’m in charge of my own life now, and it feels amazing in every way—my personal life, my career, everything. I have complete control, and I’m really loving it."

Last month, Britton discussed her experiences with dating on Morning Live. She expressed, “In my younger days, dating was enjoyable and meaningful. Now, it just revolves around swiping, which I really dislike, and I refuse to engage in that.”

She mentioned, "I had such a great time attending parties back then, and I loved the thrill of meeting new people. Now, though, I'm not interested in meeting strangers anymore, and I don't feel like going to big events."

Britton shared with Weekend Magazine about her romantic situation: "I'm not currently dating. There’s so much I want to discover about myself first and I need to feel completely prepared before I start searching for a partner."

"If you don't, you could end up being a complete emotional wreck," she noted.

In an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2023, Britton shared that numerous new possibilities have come her way since her divorce.

"My kids are all grown, and I've gone through a divorce, which has created a whole new chapter in my life," she explained. "I never imagined I would find myself at 65, single, and feeling so at ease."

Britton and Vickery both appeared on the cooking show Ready Steady Cook and got married in 2000. She is also recognized for hosting the ITV morning show This Morning, from which she departed in 2009.

When talking about the chance of coming back, she remarked, “I don’t believe I could rewind time; it just wouldn’t happen like that.”

"My experience at This Morning was wonderful, and I truly loved my decade there. However, I believe it's important to always look forward and not dwell on the past."
