Fenerbahçe played with their Under-19 squad, but decided to quit the game once Mauro Icardi, the Argentine forward of Galatasaray, managed to score.

Before the Super Cup match, the president of Fenerbahçe, Ali Koç, made a statement that outlined the club's reasons for rebellion. The statement was quite long and highlighted alleged injustices that Fenerbahçe had been subjected to for more than two decades.

Koç stated that currently, we are in a time where it is necessary to defy unjust practices, unequal treatment, hypocrisy, those who intentionally encourage unfair rivalries in a straightforward manner, and the exploitation of our hard work.

It's high time for Turkish football to start afresh. We're currently in a phase where the corruption needs to be eliminated, and Turkish football must start anew.

During a video following the game, the vice chairman of Galatasaray, Erden Timur, expressed his desire that the match had been played without any issues.

He said, "The biggest concern is that this conflict must be resolved quickly. Many events are currently occurring, and we all contend that we have been subjected to unfair treatment. The place where these unfair practices are occurring is in the sport itself."

"Transparency plays a crucial role in keeping every section of society informed of any potential injustices that may have taken place."

CNN has contacted the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to get their opinion on the matter.

The TFF is responsible for deciding what to do with the Super Cup match that was cancelled, as per TRT. The funds generated by the game were designated to assist those who were affected by the earthquake in southern Turkey from the previous year.

There has been a lot of disorder in Turkish football lately with many important events.

Last week, TFF declared that Trabzonspor's home matches would have a crowd restriction of six games and fines of approximately $97,059 (3,112,000 Turkish Lira) because fans ran onto the field and attacked Fenerbahçe players who were celebrating their 3-2 victory in the Süper Lig match back in March. Trabzonspor requested an appeal, and TFF made a decision to shorten the restriction to four games and reduce their fine to $14,000 (448,000 Turkish Lira).

Due to the aggression that occurred during the match between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe, a meeting took place for the Fenerbahçe team on April 2. During this meeting, the possibility of quitting the top-tier league was discussed, but the decision was postponed until July.

Last December, Faruk Koca, who was the leader of a major Turkish soccer team called Ankaragücü, stepped down from his position due to an incident in which he physically attacked a referee who had a license from FIFA. Additionally, there have been various demonstrations against the choices made by referees during matches in the past few months.

Earlier, Trabzonspor, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahçe expressed their desire for the TFF president, Mehmet Büyükekşi, and the present board members to step down.

The TFF has set a voting process called the "elective general assembly" for July 18. However, it's uncertain if this is only for the president's position or if it includes the entire federation leadership, TRT reports.
