Fallout: London mod for Fallout 4 has released today on GOG

Fallout: London

Fallout: London, a highly anticipated and game-changing mod for Fallout 4, is now officially released on GOG. The mod is too large to be hosted on regular modding sites. If you have Fallout 4 on GOG, you can easily access the mod. However, if you have it on Steam, you will need to downgrade to version 1.10.163.0 to be able to install and play Fallout: London.

More information: "Fallout: London is a large, ambitious mod for Fallout 4, the post-apocalyptic RPG from Bethesda Game Studios. This mod is unique in that it is set in London, outside of the usual United States setting. In Fallout: London, players will encounter a variety of characters and factions inspired by London's history and culture, including aristocrats, the Knights of the Round Table, revolutionaries, and more. This mod brings a new, nuclear twist to the iconic city of London."

Right now, the situation for Linux gamers is a little disorganized. I tried to use the Steam Downgrader for Linux from Nexus, but the zip file appears to be corrupted (I've informed them. Update: They have corrected it). However, if you own the games on GOG, you should be able to download both Fallout 4 and London using the Heroic Games Launcher.

Update: GOG was generous enough to send me a key for Fallout 4, so I am currently trying it out using the Heroic Launcher. I am currently downloading both Fallout London and Fallout 4, and setting them to run on GE-Proton 9-10. When I tried to install Fallout London, everything worked correctly. However, for Fallout 4, I had to manually choose the location as it did not automatically detect it.

Surprisingly, the Wine file-chooser was unable to show my /home directory. In order to fix this issue, I had to navigate to Heroic's settings on Fallout London and use the Winecfg button to manually include my /home folder, where Fallout 4 is located. After doing this, the file-chooser was finally able to locate it correctly.

After installing, their launcher will appear. Simply click on the Play button for Fallout London within Heroic whenever you want to start the game.

I am glad to report that Fallout London seems to be functioning well when using the GOG version downloaded through Heroic. However, I have noticed that the dialogue is not being spoken, despite seeing in other videos that there is voice-acting. I have tested it with both GE-Proton and Proton Experimental, but the audio is not working correctly on either. It seems like we may need some Proton/Wine fixes in order for Fallout London to function properly.

Please share your progress in the comments below.

Fallout 4 is available on GOG for a discounted price of 60% off until August 2nd.
