George Russell secured the top spot on the starting grid for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton struggled and ended up qualifying in 10th place.
While Russell edged past Ferrari's Carlos Sainz by a mere 0.098 seconds to claim the top position in Las Vegas, Hamilton was left disappointed due to two missteps that have placed him far down the rankings.
Pierre Gasly unexpectedly secured third place for Alpine, finishing just ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
Lando Norris needs to earn at least three more points than Max Verstappen if he wants to keep the championship fight alive until the second-to-last race in Qatar. However, the British racer will be starting in sixth place, just behind the Dutch driver.

"Max Verstappen's Path To The 2024 Title"
Only 86 points can be earned in the next three races, which will take place in Las Vegas, Qatar (where the last sprint race of the season is scheduled), and Abu Dhabi.
At the conclusion of the weekend in Las Vegas, only 60 points will remain to be earned.
This means that if Verstappen finishes ahead of Norris in Las Vegas, he will be named the 2024 champion. The Dutch driver will also clinch the title if neither of them earns any points.
Verstappen will claim the 2024 championship as long as Norris doesn't earn more than two points than him.

F1 Las Vegas GP Live: Lando Norris Qualifies P6
"We didn’t have any hope for pole position. The top three drivers are far ahead, and Mercedes has been the fastest all weekend. Both we and Red Bull are quite a bit behind, and we anticipated doing better than we actually did. We’re having trouble at every corner; it’s been very challenging to handle our car."
"I'm going to put in my utmost effort and won't throw in the towel, even if the odds are stacked against us. I'll head out tomorrow; it's a lengthy race, and we're fast on the straightaways—hopefully, that will work in our favor."
