George Russell secured pole position for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton struggled and ended up qualifying in 10th place.

As Russell narrowly edged out Ferrari's Carlos Sainz by only 0.098 seconds to claim the top position in Sin City, Hamilton found himself regretting two errors that placed him far down the rankings.

Pierre Gasly achieved an unexpected third place for Alpine, finishing just ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

Lando Norris needs to score at least three more points than Max Verstappen to keep the championship race alive until the second-to-last race in Qatar. However, the British racer will be starting just behind the Dutch driver in sixth position.

Norris: Verstappen Won't Win 2024 F1 Title In McLaren

Norris witnessed his chances of winning the championship fade away during the most recent race in Brazil, where Verstappen delivered an outstanding performance, racing from 17th place on the grid to take the win in the rain.

With just three races remaining and a 62-point gap between them, Red Bull's Verstappen can clinch his fourth consecutive F1 championship if he outperforms McLaren's Norris at the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.

It is said that Formula One is in discussions with General Motors regarding the addition of an 11th team to the lineup, set for 2026.

Earlier this year, F1 turned down Andretti's proposal in collaboration with GM. However, they did mention that they would evaluate a fresh offer for 2028.

According to Sky Sports News, with the departure of former leader Michael Andretti, there is a possibility of a new entry into the sport under the guidance of businessman Dan Towriss, who is the majority owner of Andretti Global. This new entry could potentially emerge as soon as 2026.
