Verstappen has not won a race in the past four races, but he believes he has a good opportunity to win in front of his enthusiastic home fans. He has won three times in a row at this venue.
The Red Bull racer is currently ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris by 78 points in the world championship, with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc trailing by 100 points in third place. There are still 10 races left in the season.
The third practice session will take place at 10:30am (BST), with the qualifying session following at 2pm.

Previewing Can Max Verstappen Maintain Home F1 Success?
After a four-week summer break, Lando Norris made a strong start on Friday at the Zandvoort circuit near the North Sea. In the practice session, which started wet but dried up later on, the McLaren driver showed impressive speed, outpacing Dutch racer Max Verstappen, who has won three world championships. This was the first time Norris had shown such potential as a contender for the world championship title.
With only 10 races remaining in the season, the current standings at the top of the leaderboard must be maintained in the upcoming weeks in order for the F1 title race to remain close until the end.
If someone had told Norris and McLaren at the beginning of the season that after the summer break they would be in second place, only 80 points behind the leader, they would have been thrilled. But the truth is that the gap should be much closer than the 78-point difference it is now.

Christian Horner Relieved After Colleague's Appeal Over Inappropriate Behavior Dismissed
Christian Horner is happy that the complaint made by a female coworker about his behavior was rejected during the F1 break.
The head of Red Bull's F1 team, Horner, was initially found innocent of any misconduct earlier this year. A female staff member had accused him of engaging in "coercive, improper behavior."
Horner, who is 50 years old, was cleared of any wrongdoing right before the first race of the season in Bahrain. Shortly after, a large number of texts with sexual content, reportedly between Horner and the person making the complaint, were sent out to people in the racing community. The authenticity of these texts has not been confirmed, as they were sent from an unidentified email address.
The person who made a complaint was put on leave with full pay before filing an appeal. However, on 8 August, her appeal was rejected after another investigation by a different independent party - with Red Bull stating that their “internal process has finished.”

The session ended with the cars completing several race simulation laps in windy weather. George Russell maintained his lead with a time of 1:10:702.
Oscar Piastri was just one-tenth of a second behind the leader in second place for McLaren, while Lewis Hamilton was in third place, trailing his teammate by one-tenth of a second.

The McLaren driver is leading in the timing chart with a time of 1 minute, 10 seconds, and 961 milliseconds, which is 0.025 seconds faster than Max Verstappen. Sergio Perez is half a second behind, as the lap times increase with drivers using the soft tires.
Lewis Hamilton, who was leading just moments ago, has now dropped to sixth place!
In the meantime, Ferrari's Carlos Sainz cannot continue in the session because of a problem with the gearbox. Not good.
