Everton beat Brentford to guarantee survival
For the very first time in his career, Idrissa Gueye has managed to successfully score a total of three goals in a single Premier League season.
Everton, who have been performing impressively, secured their place in the Premier League for another season. They achieved this with three games remaining after narrowly defeating Brentford who lacked energy and enthusiasm on the field.
Sean Dyche's team had a stroke of luck as they advanced in the rankings on Saturday, thanks to Luton's loss against Wolves. The game at Goodison Park was a crucial win for Everton, who now sit ahead of Brentford in 15th place and have an 11-point lead over the danger of relegation.
Unexpectedly, Idrissa Gueye secured the win for the game by powerfully striking the ball into the upper corner on the 60th minute. He demonstrated remarkable quickness in responding to Brentford's defenders who were unsuccessful in clearing the ball.
The first half of the match was of poor quality, and neither team managed to take a shot on goal. Abdoulaye Doucoure, who plays on the home team, missed an opportunity to score when he failed to make a successful volley from 10 yards, resulting in the ball going wide.
The competition got better in the latter half and Jordan Pickford, the goalkeeper for England's Everton, made an impressive move to prevent Ivan Toney from scoring after coming back to play.
On the opposite side, Everton almost scored first when Dwight McNeil hit a powerful shot from far away that hit the top of the crossbar. However, Gueye's goal made sure that Everton remained in the top tier of football leagues.
Dyche's Excellent Execution
On April 15th, Chelsea beat Everton by a whopping 6-0 and now Everton had to face three home games in a row which had the potential to make or break their already tumultuous season.
After the harsh defeat they suffered at Stamford Bridge, they have made a splendid comeback by winning against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Brentford without conceding a single goal.
The Toffees haven't been relegated from the premier league since 1951 but this season they faced some serious trouble when they got two points taken away, adding up to eight points, and lost 13 consecutive league games.
Dyche's squad emerged victorious over Bournemouth on the concluding day of the previous season, affirming their stay in the league. Additionally, they managed to secure their safety in the season before last by making a comeback against Crystal Palace, trailing by 2-0 at halftime under the guidance of Frank Lampard.
Although the situation was not as intense on this occasion, it was just as meaningful.
When the game ended, Dyche confidently walked onto the field and generously clapped towards all corners of the stadium, realizing that the team had achieved success in a challenging situation.
The future of the Blues outside of the game is still unknown as the acquisition by 777 Partners is still ongoing. However, they are now at least able to make preparations for the upcoming season, while also being assured of their place in the Premier League.
Gueye's impressive goal was deserving of winning a game that was slow and uneventful at times. This marks another crucial goal scored by the midfielder from Senegal, as he previously kicked off the scoring against Forest last Sunday.
The final result could have been even better if McNeil's powerful shot had gone down instead of going up, and Garner almost scored in the last minutes of the game when his free-kick hit the top of the crossbar and almost went into the net.
Meanwhile, Brentford has faced a difficult season but successfully avoided any danger of being demoted despite this defeat.
Toney, the striker for England, returned from a hip injury and had the opportunity to score but Pickford prevented it. The Everton goalkeeper also made an impressive save from Keane Lewis-Potter's shot, which helped him maintain his 12th clean sheet of the season.
