Eva Longoria Balances Life In Mexico And Spain
Eva Longoria, the Hollywood actress, has announced that she and her family have relocated from the United States. In a recent interview, she mentioned that they are now dividing their time between Mexico and Spain, describing life in the U.S. as dystopian. Leaving The US Behind
In a discussion with Marie Claire for the November issue, Eva revealed her thoughts, explaining that her choice was influenced by the country's "shifting atmosphere" following the Covid-19 pandemic and the re-election of Donald Trump as President.
"I’ve spent my entire adult life in this place. Yet, even before the pandemic, things were shifting. The atmosphere felt different. Then came COVID, and that really tipped things over the edge. There are issues like homelessness and taxes, and I don’t want to criticize California too harshly — it just seems like this phase of my life has come to an end," she shared.
The Desperate Housewives actress stated that the election outcome solidified her choice. She expressed that the most surprising aspect isn't just Donald Trump's victory, but the fact that a "convicted criminal who spreads so much hatred" is able to occupy the highest position in the country.
Eva recalled the moment when Donald Trump was elected for the first time in 2016. "I've never experienced depression before. It made me question if my vote actually counted. Am I really making a difference? I felt disconnected from my beliefs because I always thought that the most deserving person would triumph. But when that outcome occurred, I realized, 'Oh, it turns out the best person doesn’t always win.'" she reflected.
The actress expressed that she feels “fortunate” to have the option to leave. She recognizes that many Americans don’t have that same opportunity and are trapped in what she describes as “a troubling situation.” She revealed that her feelings of “worry and sorrow” are directed towards them.
Where Is She Staying Now?
The actress currently resides in Mexico and Spain with her husband, José Bastón, and their 6-year-old son, Santiago. Although she often travels to Europe and South America for her career, Eva doesn't spend a lot of time in Los Angeles. This past summer, she dedicated her time to helping mobilize voters for Kamala Harris and her partner, Tim Walz.
