French pick US baton for Eurostar terminal - Slippedisc

Eurostar

The majority of us only catch sight of Lille's Eurostar arrival spot.

Earlier today, the Orchestre National de Lille revealed that Joshua Weilerstein will become their new music director, commencing from September.

At the age of 36, Weilerstein also holds the position of Chief Conductor at the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra located in Denmark.

The train to Paris on the Eurostar has just departed from the first platform.

Amazing selection!! Exceptionally modest and gifted artist.

When you travel next, consider stopping in Lille instead of proceeding to Paris. Lille is an amazing town that is brimming with culture, boasting an excellent opera house, concerts, and incredible museums. The restaurants are superb (as are the bars, and beer, especially!), plus there's no need to take the metro to traverse the city.

If we were to assess conductors based on their innate abilities and potential, not many would qualify as true Chief Conductors. Although charming and knowledgeable, they may not have the necessary skills to lead an orchestra successfully. Conductors such as Gatti, Hrusa, and Makela stand out in this regard. Others like Jarvi could be a great Principal Guest, Weilerstein can conduct concerts aimed at educating the audience, and Yannick may be better suited for Pops.

I am attempting to figure out what Lille did to upset NL.

Great announcement! Well done, Josh!!
