It’s a tale many lottery players know well: the excitement that comes when the jackpot winner is announced, followed by a frantic search for your ticket. Then comes the crushing realization that the winning numbers don’t actually match the ones on the ticket you’re holding.
However, for those who participated in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday night, there’s still a chance. It has recently been revealed that a mistake caused the incorrect winning numbers to be posted online. As a result, ticket holders are being encouraged to review their tickets again, as they might be close to winning the third-largest lottery jackpot in Britain’s history.
Shortly after midnight, numerous media outlets reported what they claimed were the winning numbers for the £177 million EuroMillions lottery.
A few hours later, the Press Association issued a correction because it was discovered that an additional number was included by error, indicating there wasn't actually a winner. Now that the accurate winning numbers have been verified, a ticket holder has yet to claim their jackpot—and that could be you!
Players are being encouraged to double-check their tickets to find out if they’ve won a prize in Tuesday’s drawing.
The numbers that hit the jackpot (and we assure you, they are definitely the right ones) were 07, 11, 25, 31, and 40, along with Lucky Stars 09 and 12.
The victor will have a greater fortune than former One Direction star Harry Styles and heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, both of whom are valued at £175 million, based on the most recent list of the 40 richest individuals under 40 in the UK published by the Sunday Times.
On July 19, 2022, a ticket holder from the UK, who chose to remain anonymous, won a staggering EuroMillions jackpot of £195 million, setting a new record for the largest National Lottery prize ever.
The winner from Tuesday is right behind Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester, who won a record-setting £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket in the draw held on May 10, 2022.
Andy Carter, a senior adviser for winners at Allwyn, the company running the National Lottery, expressed his excitement, saying, "What an amazing night for a lucky ticket holder in the UK who has just won the astonishing £177 million EuroMillions jackpot!"
Their victory has earned them a place on the National Lottery's Rich List, making them the third-largest winner in the history of the National Lottery!
“What a fantastic victory just in time for Christmas! We’re excited to deliver this incredible prize.”
