It’s a scenario many lottery players know all too well: the excitement that fills the air when someone hits the jackpot, followed by a frantic search for your ticket. Then comes the moment of truth when you discover that the numbers on your ticket don’t match the winning ones printed on the ticket in your hand.
However, for those who participated in Tuesday night’s EuroMillions draw, there’s still a chance. It has recently been discovered that a mistake caused the incorrect winning numbers to be posted online. As a result, players are being encouraged to review their tickets again, as they may be close to winning Britain’s third-largest lottery jackpot.
Shortly after midnight, a number of media outlets reported what they claimed to be the winning numbers for the £177 million EuroMillions lottery draw.
Hours later, the Press Association issued a correction after discovering that an extra number had been mistakenly included, indicating that there was actually no winner. With the accurate winning numbers now verified, the holder of the winning ticket still needs to come forward to claim their jackpot—which means that it could be you!
Players are being encouraged to verify their tickets again to find out if they have won in the draw on Tuesday.
The numbers that won (and we assure you, these are definitely the right ones) are 07, 11, 25, 31, and 40, along with Lucky Stars 09 and 12.
The winner will have a greater fortune than Harry Styles, a former member of One Direction, and heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, both of whom have a net worth of £175 million, as reported in the latest Sunday Times ranking of the 40 wealthiest people under 40 in the UK.
On July 19, 2022, an unnamed ticket holder in the UK won a staggering £195 million in the EuroMillions, marking the largest win in the history of the National Lottery.
The winner from Tuesday is just trailing Joe and Jess Thwaite, a couple from Gloucester, who made headlines by winning a record-setting £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket in the draw on May 10, 2022.
Andy Carter, a senior advisor for winners at Allwyn, the organization that runs the National Lottery, remarked, “It's been an extraordinary evening for one lucky ticket holder in the UK who has won the astonishing £177 million EuroMillions jackpot!”
Their victory has earned them a place on the National Lottery's Rich List, making them the third-largest winner in the history of the National Lottery!
"What an incredible victory just before Christmas! We’re excited to distribute this fantastic prize."
