West Indies v England live: latest updates from first T20 international

England vs West Indies

WI Reach 168/6 With Powell And Russell Batting

England is down to their final over and Adil Rashid is the only hope left for their team. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely they will win. Russell was able to block Rashid's first ball and then hit a powerful six with a slog-sweep that went far beyond the boundary. The ball even struck the top of the scoreboard before bouncing out of the ground.

Four runs and an individual effort brought West Indies close to winning by just one boundary.

WI 157/6: Powell & Russell Lead With 31 & 14

Tymal Mills is back on the bowling end. Due to the wet ball, he is facing difficulties in delivering slower deliveries, which are an essential part of his skills. However, high velocity comes with its dangers, and Russell gets a six by unintentionally hitting a bouncer.

Powell completes a fantastic over for West Indies by powerfully striking the ball to score four runs. Just a while ago, they were struggling, but now it seems as though they are effortlessly heading towards a win.

WI At 141/6: Powell 26, Russell 4

Rovman Powell, the team captain, turned things around in favor of the West Indies in the game! Powell made four runs in four consecutive balls and then proceeded to hit two sixes in a row against Livingstone straight down the ground. The West Indies now only needs 31 runs to win in 24 balls, which is a notably better position compared to needing 43 runs in the remaining 26 balls.

WI Struggles: 125/6 Against Over 15

Andre Russell protects the ball that could have given the bowler a hat-trick, but unfortunately hits it just a little too close to Woakes, who was guarding the third man's position. Rehan Ahmed, a young 19-year-old bowler, just completed a somewhat unstable innings but managed to impress with his final score of 3 wickets for 39 runs in 4 overs.

The cricket game saw an exciting moment when Rehan Ahmed managed to dismiss Romario Shepherd with the assistance of Sam Curran at slip. This led to Jos Buttler placing a slip for the new batsman. Rehan Ahmed's performance has been impressive, with him now being on a hat-trick. The score now stands at 123/6.

Shai Hope's turn to bat was cut short at 36 runs after hitting a six then getting caught out by Brook who chased the ball down from long-on. Rehan Ahmed, who is a young 19-year-old player, made an outstanding comeback by getting the wicket. This shows how mature Rehan is as a player. The score is now 123/5.

WI 117/4: Hope And Powell Lead The Way

It's Liam Livingstone's turn to bowl. Since there are two right-handed batters at the field, he is expected to use legbreaks predominantly. Hope takes on the challenge and smacks a few towards the ground, but they do not make it to long-on. The over concludes with the team scoring five singles.

The situation is becoming quite tense.

Hope And Powell Shine As WI Scores 112/4 At 13 Overs

Powell scores a boundary on the first ball, even though there were fielders close by. The West Indies team needs 60 runs from 42 balls, but only two of their bowlers, Rehan and Adil Rashid, can bowl 12 of those deliveries.

Players Return To The Field

It is time for Rehan Ahmed to bowl the third over and he has two balls left. Let's resume the game.

Game To Resume In Barbados At 9.35am/1.35am GMT

There haven't been any missed opportunities, therefore the West Indies require 64 runs within 44 balls.

Barbados Has A 10.10pm Cutoff Time

It's currently 2:10am in the United Kingdom and there is no update on whether any overs have been missed.

Revealing The Covers

Although an exact date for resumption has not been specified, it's likely to happen soon.

Rashid Reaches 100th T20I Wicket Mark

Kensington Oval: Our Man

The weather in Barbados is currently pouring down severely and there's no clue as to when it'll cease. This kind of rain typically doesn't last long in Barbados. However, if it perseveres, West Indies will succeed by 6 points according to DLS. We're just awaiting notifications of the deadline.

After 12.4 overs have been played, the West Indies team has reached a score of 108/4. The players at the crease are Hope, who has scored 27 runs so far, and Powell, who has scored 6 runs.

Captain Powell hit a nice shot from Rehan that went past Buttler and got four points. But then, all of a sudden, it started raining and the players had to stop playing. At that moment, West Indies were leading by six runs according to the DLS system.

WI Struggling At 102/4: Hope And Powell's Contributions Limited

Rashid attained 100 wickets after a long struggle of 14 years. This was majorly due to England neglecting him for six years until Eoin Morgan stepped up to lead the team. Rashid's contributions remain unrecognized in the realm of English cricket, despite being an exceptional player. Had it not been for him, England wouldn't have tasted victory in 2019 and 2022.

Adil Rashid made history by becoming the first male England bowler to take 100 T20 wickets. A great achievement indeed, as his dismissal of Shimron Hetmyer was crucial in the match. Hetmyer was looking dangerous, and she bravely advanced down the track and hit the ball hard towards cow corner. However, Ben Duckett was waiting for it and made a well-judged catch just within the rope. This wicket has given England a boost in the game, and the score is now 101/4.

WI 101/3: Hope Scores 26, Hetmyer 1

Rehan Ahmed has made a remarkable recovery with his bowling performance. In his first over, he conceded 19 runs, but he turned it around in the second over with two dismissals and a wicket. His second over concluded with Hope accidentally hitting the ball to the off side.

Rehan Ahmed is truly impressive! Despite getting hit hard for 19 runs in his opening over, he managed to nab the essential wicket of Nicholas Pooran with an outstanding catch. Pooran hit the ball high to Rehan's left, but Rehan jumped into action and acrobatically caught the ball with both hands. The score is now at 100/3.

Windies At 99/2 With Hope And Pooran Scoring 25 And 13 Respectively

The eagerness shown by England players in drying the ball before each delivery hints that winning the toss was favorable for the West Indies. However, England cannot protest much since Jos Buttler has had multiple successful tosses this winter.

Pooran hits a powerful shot down the ground, sending Rashid out of the park for the ninth time and adding to the overall count of 15 sixes made during the match. West Indies' success in T20 cricket in 2012 and 2016 was largely due to their ability to hit sixes, and they are not planning on altering their strategy for the upcoming home tournament.

It's time to grab a drink. England may be doing better in the comparison, but it seems like the West Indies are winning the game.

West Indies 87/2 – The Score So Far

The marvelous Garry Sobers, who celebrated his 87th birthday this July, is among the spectators present at the Kensington Oval. One can only imagine the level of excellence he would have achieved in the realm of T20 cricket.

Tymal Mills took the place of Rehan Ahmed and managed to keep things under control with his impressive variations. The only time the ball went out of bounds was by pure luck - it was a legside shot from Hope that went off the edge and flew to third man.

"Windies At 79/2 With Hope And Pooran"

Rashid has played in 100 T20 international games, and he only needs to take one more wicket to become the first England men's bowler to reach 100 T20 international wickets. In his first over, Rashid was successful in getting one wicket while only allowing one run. However, he was seen wiping the ball between deliveries, which indicates that the dew on the field could be affecting the game. The West Indies team needs to score 93 runs within 72 balls to win.

Rashid has managed to take his first wicket by striking Mayers out for 35 runs. Mayers hit the ball straight into the hands of Brook who was fielding at wide long on. Rashid was able to deceive him with what appeared to be a sloppy ball, similar to the one thrown by Ahmed at the opening of the game. Although Mayers was able to hit four sixes before leaving the field, he was met with a sarcastic applause from Rashid. With this dismissal, the score is now 78/2.

WI On Top: Mayers 35, Hope 19

After the Powerplay phase, Rehan Ahmed takes the lead in the game. He begins with a toss that Mayers hits for six, then proceeds to wipe his hands on his trousers. This implies that there's a presence of dew, which could cause difficulty for England.

Mayers successfully hits six more balls over the long off area with a shot that displays classical elegance. Additionally, Hope sends another ball down the ground, putting an end to a very costly over, resulting in a total of 19 runs. England is now facing a difficult situation.

WI Scores 59/1 With Mayers And Hope Batting

The West Indies team has a stronger and more capable batting lineup than that of England. This advantage could prove to be crucial when considering how poorly England performed towards the end of their batting innings.

Curran had a rough start with his first over resulting in 16 runs. However, he switched to a more aggressive approach during the end of the match and managed to outsmart Hope with a unique delivery that bounced twice before reaching Buttler. He did an excellent job during the over, only giving away three runs.

England had a tough beginning, but managed to recover during the Powerplay. They only allowed 29 runs in the final four overs.

Score Update: West Indies 56/1

The West Indies team is taking big swings at all the balls during the initial phase, as they understand that it will become more difficult to bat later on. Woakes performs exceptionally well and only allows three runs from five balls. However, Hope finishes with a stylish six by effortlessly hitting the ball over long-on.

WI Off To Solid Start: 47/1

Kyle Mayers has done it again! This time he hit a massive six off Tymal Mills that went all the way onto the roof, showing his impressive hand speed. There was even a pause while they got a new ball. On the next play, Duckett almost caught another ball thrown in the air. Mayers struck a slower ball out to the field, and Duckett went for it, but couldn't quite grab it with one hand. It was a tough catch, but not as challenging as the one he had made earlier to dismiss King.

Scoring Update: WI 36/1, Mayers 9, Hope 4

Shai Hope is a great example of the fact that T20 cricket involves more than just quick and aggressive play. In fact, he showcased his skills by elegantly placing his first ball through midwicket, earning a delightful four.

The cricket scoreboard shows that King was bowled by Woakes for 22, but it was Ben Duckett's incredible catch in the covers that stole the show. King had hit Woakes towards the left of the field, where Duckett was stationed near the boundary. Despite the ball being far away, he managed to dive and catch it with both hands, which was an impressive feat. After the catch, the fielding side's score was 32/1.

WI Starts Strong With King And Mayers Achieving 30/0 In OVER 2

At the opposite end, Will Jacks, who spins the ball away from the batsman, starts the bowling. Unfortunately, his second delivery is a dreadful short-pitched ball which Kyle Mayers manages to hit out of the park, resulting in a humongous six. The commentators on the television coverage measured the distance of the hit to be about 99 meters. Mayers then beautifully executes a square drive on the back foot, earning himself three runs.

The King, in a forceful move, hits the ball hard and makes it travel a long distance four more times. The West Indies team has noticed how England began playing aggressively with 22 runs scored in two overs and they have decided to do the same.

By the way, during the dismissal of the final England batsman, it appears that both teams are allowed to use two reviews. I initially thought the on-screen display indicated only one review per team, but it's getting late and my vision isn't as sharp as it used to be.

"Windies Score 16 Runs With King And Mayers At Bat"

The athletes have returned to the playing area. Sam Curran commences the game and Brandon King scores a remarkable 16 runs! He manages to hit two sixes, with the second being a stunning pull shot to deep midwicket. Additionally, he registers a four. Curran made a strange appeal for LBW when the ball hit the bat's sweet spot.

Russell Defends His England Recall As Innings Ends

After the Powerplay, England's performance significantly dropped as they reached a score of 77-0. Right after, Phil Salt, who was able to hit the ball straight and in a square position, was caught by Shimron Hetmyer with an amazing juggling technique.

England got off to a great start, but the middle order didn't perform well. They found it hard to adjust to the conditions of the used wicket. Andre Russell made a strong comeback in his first game for West Indies since November 2021. He proved his worth by taking three wickets for just 19 runs. Russell's speed and precision make him an asset to West Indies in both batting and bowling. He's usually positioned at number seven in the batting order.

During the cricket match, when the score was 165-5 and 17 overs were completed, Liam Livingstone successfully hit two consecutive sixes, and England was aiming for the 200 run mark. Unfortunately, their efforts fell short, and the rest of the innings was not productive. However, Alzarri Joseph's catch, while running to his left at long on, was a highlight of the game due to his exceptional fielding skills.

During the match, Tymal Mills made a sharp hit on Joseph's delivery. As a result, England's innings ended with a total of 171 runs. They managed to score only 6 runs in the last 2.3 overs and were finally bowled out with three balls left. The outcome of the game at the packed Kensington Oval will depend on whether West Indies can perform as well as Salt, who scored 40 runs in 20 balls. It remains to be seen if this inning will be an exception or not.

West Indies Require 172 Runs For Victory

At the beginning, England was doing well in the cricket match, scoring 77 runs without losing any wickets in six overs. However, by the time they reached the 10th over, they had lost two wickets and had only scored 112 runs. West Indies' bowlers cleverly slowed down the ball's speed, causing England to struggle. It seems like West Indies is more likely to win the game, but it could also depend on the amount of dew present on the field.

The cricket match between West Indies and Joseph's team witnessed an event where Mills was bowled out by Pooran for zero runs. West Indies attempted to challenge the decision by reviewing a possible caught-behind, however, it was questioned if they had already used up their review earlier. It turned out that they had not used it yet, as evidenced by the technology showing a clear bump and thereby validating the decision to declare Mills' dismissal. At the end of the match, West Indies scored a total of 171 runs before being all out.

In the cricket match, Rashid couldn't score and Joseph successfully hit the ball. Sadly, England's team has lost their last seven players and only scored 63 points. The scorecard shows that the team is at 170/9.

Englands Score 169/8 Against Opponents

Andre Russell finishes a remarkable performance, using plenty of slower balls, achieving his personal best score of 3 wickets taken for only 19 runs in 4 overs.

Andre Russell continues to excel in his return to the T20 team by taking yet another wicket. Rehan Ahmed was unable to hit the slower ball accurately, resulting in an easy catch by captain Rovman Powell at long on. This brings the team's score to 169/8.

This is a major moment for the West Indies - Livingstone was just dismissed by Russell after hitting a wide, slower ball back onto his own stumps. Livingstone played well, putting up 27 runs in 19 balls. Unfortunately for England, their chances of scoring 200 have diminished with his departure. The score is now 167/7.

ENG 167/6 With Livingstone And Woakes

Holder misses a chance to catch the recently added player Woakes during extra cover. Shepherd achieves great results again, concluding an excellent spell with stats of 4-0-22-2.

Wow, that was an incredible catch by Alzarri Joseph! Curran hit a slower ball towards the long off area, but Joseph quickly ran around the boundary and made a spectacular two-handed catch. He jumped high above his head to secure the catch. This wicket puts the score at 165/6.

Eng 165/5: Livingstone & Curran Contribute

This is the Liam Livingstone we adore and recognize. He hits Holder for two magnificent sixes - the initial one pulled over square leg as he chose a slower ball, and the second blazed over long off.

16 Overs In: ENG 148/5

As time has passed, England has encountered difficulties and West Indies has begun to slow down. Despite numerous attempts that have been unsuccessful, Livingstone successfully strikes Joseph's last delivery down the field for a four, which is a relief. He has 13 points from 14 shots, whereas Curran has accumulated 9 from 10 shots.

Livingstone And Curran Lead With ENG 139/5

The West Indies team seem to be using a lot of slower balls and cutters during their bowling, which has been working well for them. During the game, Livingstone attempts to hit a powerful shot over midwicket but fails and the ball ends up being hit with the toes to mid-off. Russell's over was very effective, only allowing England to score four runs. England's current score after the Powerplay is 58/5, with the match being in its ninth over.

14 Overs Gone: ENG 135/5

The recently introduced batsman Sam Curran hits a pull shot that results in a boundary, which was much needed for England as they hadn't scored one in 27 deliveries.

Ben Duckett expressed his frustration with his bat when he faced an unusual dismissal from Shepherd. He made an attempt to perform a reverse ramp with a ball that was quite wide, hoping to send it soaring over short third man. However, his efforts were in vain as he ended up guiding it directly towards Hosein, resulting in his dismissal.

Shepherd displayed some intelligent bowling skills as he observed Duckett's gameplay, and made sure he delivered the ball even further from his reach. Unfortunately, England seems to be struggling at the moment. Their Fall Of Wicket score currently stands at 129/5.

Englands Score: 129/4 With Duckett And Livingstone At Bat

England scored six individual runs in the last over by Hosein, who ended up with satisfactory statistics of 1 wicket for 32 runs in 4 overs. West Indies are gaining momentum and increasing the pressure.

"ENG 123/4: Duckett And Livingstone Scored 11 And 2 Respectively"

Up until now, the game has been split into two parts: scoring 77 runs with no wickets lost in the first six overs, and only 46 runs with four wickets lost in the following six overs.

Brook got bowled by Holder, thanks to an exquisite delivery, and it looks like losing Buttler was not as advantageous as initially thought. Brook was dismissed just after facing two balls, and his attempt to send the ball soaring to a distant universe fell short due to the pace and unexpected bounce. As a result, he handed a catch to the wicketkeeper. The scorecard now reads 120/4.

Duckett And Brook Lead ENG To 118/3

I never imagined that I would say this, but England might have benefitted from Jos Buttler's dismissal today. He was struggling a bit, and now Harry Brook has taken his place.

Akeal Hosein, a left-arm spinner, has made a significant breakthrough by dismissing Jos Buttler, who was not playing his best game despite some impressive strokes. Buttler attempted a pull shot towards deep square leg, but only managed to get a top edge on the ball, causing one hand to come off his bat. Hetmyer, who had already taken a great catch earlier in the innings, sprinted in from the boundary and managed to take his second fantastic catch. Buttler's innings ended at 39 runs from 31 balls, and the score is now 117/3.

"ENG 112/2 As Buttler Scores 36 & Duckett 8"

Ben Duckett, who is considered a fine cricketer in a team full of powerful hitters, manages to hit Shepherd's delivery between two short fielders in the third-man region for his first four in the T20 match. England seems to be on track to reach a total exceeding 200 runs. Considering the ground conditions and the opponent they are playing against, England will likely have to achieve a big total to secure a victory.

ENG 103/2: Buttler 34, Duckett 1

Buttler hits Joseph towards backward point for four, leading England to reach their hundred in the last ball of the ninth over.

We are now at the end of the ninth over, with only one ball remaining.

In the cricket match, Joseph bowled to Will Jacks who had already hit two sixes off him in the same over. Will attempted to hit another six but missed and got dismissed. The ball was hit high up in the sky and King, who was standing at mid-off, ran back and made a brilliant diving catch. Joseph's bowling performance was not great with the figures reading 1.3-0-38-1. As a result, the fall of wicket score now stands at 98/2.

Eng's Score: 84/1 With Butler And Jacks On Batting End

Joseph is substituted by Romario Shepherd. After the Powerplay, England experiences a slight decrease in momentum, which is worsened by Salt's dismissal. Shepherd manages to limit England to only five singles.

"Englands Score: 80/1 With Buttler And Jacks"

After the departure of Alex Hales and Dawid Malan, England's top three positions for the World Cup are up for grabs. Will Jacks is the front-runner for the spot and has a chance to secure it.

Phil Salt’s impressive start to the game was short-lived after the Powerplay. He hit a powerful shot towards deep midwicket, where Hetmyer managed to catch the ball with ease, even though it was an awkward catch. Salt ends his innings with a quick 40 runs off just 20 balls. The team's score at this point was 77 for the loss of one wicket.

English Batsmen Dominance: ENG 77/0

Alzarri Joseph, the new bowler, was hit for four runs as the ball went over his head after being smeared with salt. However, the player did not lose hope and managed to make room for the next ball, which he hit over third man for six runs. It was a splendid shot by someone who never hesitates to take risks. He can be compared to Jason Roy, but with a more exaggerated style. Unfortunately, "P-Salt" is not as catchy of a nickname.

Joseph was quite frazzled as he approached Buttler. However, Buttler managed to skillfully hit the free hit at an angle to the side of mid-on, resulting in four points. Unfortunately, things only got worse for Joseph during his over, when a wide ball on the leg-side passed through the legs of the keeper Pooran and went all the way to the boundary. This over ended with an astonishing 25 points.

England put up a remarkable score of 77-0, with their fierce powerplay playing a vital role. The two openers demonstrated explosive hitting, but Salt's aggression mirrored Jason Roy's previous performance to perfection. He managed to score 41 runs in just 19 balls during the initial fielding restrictions phase of the game.

Eng 51/0 As Salt And Buttler Shine

Andre Russell is on the offensive, delivering his first ball with precision just behind the length. However, Buttler responds with a quick wiggle and a strong hit that sends the ball soaring over Russell's head for a confident and impressive boundary.

In this part of the blog, it's mentioned that Buttler missed a scoop shot and the West Indies used their only review option to scrutinize the decision made by the umpire. However, there was no indication of an edge detected on the UltraEdge technology. Later on, Buttler successfully executed the scoop shot and earned six runs off Russell's delivery. This shot helped England reach the fifty-run mark.

Eng 41/0 After 4 Overs

Salt is on fire once more! He hits Holder's ball with such force that it sails past the boundary for a thrilling four. The sound of the ball connecting with his bat is music to the ears. Not content with that, Salt proceeds to hit the next ball over cover, making it another boundary. He has scored an impressive 29 runs from just 15 balls. Meanwhile, Buttler has managed to score 10 runs from his nine deliveries.

"Eng Dominates With 29/0 In 3 Overs "

Hosein hit the ball with some force and it landed in between the two fielders covering that area. The ball didn't travel far after landing, which might catch the attention of England's four spin bowlers.

Buttler successfully hits the ball towards the long off area with a powerful force, resulting in his second boundary.

England Score: 22-0

At the opposite end, Jason Holder starts to bowl. It was not an exceptional over as there were a few wides on the leg side. However, it included a full delivery that was hit over the mid-on for four runs by Buttler using his wrist. England got a good start from this.

"Tim Wigmore's Take On Barbados"

Wow, Phil Salt did an amazing job playing the role of Jason Roy by scoring thirteen runs in the first over. Having an aggressive partner like him also benefits Jos Buttler as he can take it a bit slower, which is something he tends to do during the IPL.

"England's Score: 13 For No Wicket As Salt Leads With 13"

Akeal Hosein, who spins the ball with his left arm, was given the responsibility to begin bowling. He delivered an almost perfect second ball that could have taken the wicket, but unfortunately, the ball's edge went past Hope, who was stationed in the slip position. As a result, the opposing team managed to score four runs.

The over has been divided into three boundaries in total. The previous two were remarkable shots; a well-planned sweep and a perfectly timed square drive after quickly going back to his spot.

Kensington Oval Sells Out!

Greetings from Kensington Oval, where I have been informed that tonight's event is completely sold out. The excitement among the local crowd has escalated following their triumph in the ODI competition, as evidenced by the traffic on my way to the stadium; my taxi had to leave me at Rihanna Drive. I am excited about witnessing Rehan Ahmed and Adil Rashid's joint performance. They are leg spinners, each with unique styles - particularly with Ahmed's preference for bowling at left-handers - which makes it feasible for England to field a leg-spin pair in the T20 World Cup. A previously used wicket should allow both players to showcase their skills this evening. Additionally, it will be intriguing to observe the debut of the stop clock and how it performs.

In Squad

Adil Rashid and Rehan Ahmed have been selected for the England XI lineup, adding two legitimate legspinners to the team. If you count Liam Livingstone, the team now has three legspinners. It's interesting to see such a change in the composition of the England cricket team.

Rashid has achieved a significant milestone by playing in his 100th T20 international match. He is also the first bowler in the men's England team to reach this accomplishment.

The chosen players for West Indies are Mayers as the King, Hope, Pooran as the wicket-keeper, Hetmyer, Powell as the captain, Shepherd, Russell, Holder, Hosein, and Joseph.

The players in the England cricket team going by the names of Buttler (who also plays as a wicket-keeper), Salt, Jacks, Duckett, Brook, Livingstone, Curran, Woakes, Ahmed, Rashid, and Mills.

"West Indies Bowl First After Winning Toss"

Rovman Powell, who is the captain for T20, appears a bit displeased when David Gower, who is doing the toss, states that the pitch seems to be quite parched.

According to Jos Buttler, he too would have preferred to start with bowling first.

60-second Task Accomplished

The cricket game happening tonight will be the primary one of its kind on an international level to incorporate a timer that stops, punishing teams with a loss of runs if they take too long to bowl their overs. Tim Wigmore dishes out further details.

Cricket is trying out a stop clock, following the trend of sports prioritizing the speed of the game due to the decreasing attention spans in the world.

This is a reaction to the fact that the quickest version of cricket played on a global level has the least efficient pace of overs being bowled. Check it out at the provided link.

Let The T20 World Cup Begin!

Next year, there will be another World Cup for England to compete in, and 16 teams will be battling for victory in the T20 tournament held in the West Indies and the USA. Many skilled players who were absent during the ODIs have been brought back into the squad, including Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Reece Topley, and Adil Rashid.

During the series, we might have the opportunity to see John Turner, a fast bowler who has not yet played at the international level and is relatively unknown.

The team from the Caribbean, known as the West Indies, has brought back some of their most prominent players into their roster. This includes the likes of Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran, and the powerful Andre Russell.

New White-Ball Format Previewed

Hello and greetings for joining us as we bring you the latest updates on the England versus West Indies T20 cricket match happening at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

As we head into the shorter format of the game, England is counting on a turnaround in their subpar performance in limited-overs matches. This five-match series is set to take place from today until December 21.

According to England's head coach Matthew Mott, altering the format from one-day internationals to Twenty20 internationals can benefit Jos Buttler, the captain of England's white-ball team, and his teammates.

The English team lost two games out of three in the ODI series. The game that determined the winner was played on Saturday, which England unfortunately lost. Surprisingly, the West Indies team did not even make it to the 50-over World Cup.

Mott expressed that changing the format after losing a series is beneficial as it allows the team to move on swiftly. These remarks were made prior to the commencement of the T20 series opener, set to take place on Tuesday at the Kensington Oval.

The other day, Jos displayed his exceptional skills to his classmates and he might be the first one to come out to the field and challenge the opponents' bowling, which he has been doing for several years.

Buttler scored three, 58 unbeaten, and zero runs in those three games, and he had been struggling with his form in the shorter formats for a while. After scoring 43 in England's first World Cup defeat to New Zealand, Buttler only managed to score a total of 95 runs in eight innings, with an average of only 11.9.

Mott stated that Buttler's position as opener in T20 matches is guaranteed, even though Jacks and Salt performed well in the One Day International series.

Mott stated that Jos is a sure thing and is guaranteed to succeed. He has demonstrated his abilities over an extensive duration.

“This will be exactly what he requires to climb to the summit and dominate the game from the beginning. I'm certain that he is eager for this opportunity.”

The match commences at 10 o'clock in the evening and we'll stick around to provide you with the latest news and responses.
