On Monday, Elton John apologized to Gary Lineker for being delayed in settling a soccer bet that had been outstanding for more than two months.

The vocalist, who is 76 years old, had to fulfill a personal wager with the sports commentator, aged 63, resulting in him having to make a payment.

Sir Elton is a huge enthusiast of football and used to serve as the chairman of Watford FC. He has been actively participating in the club's affairs since 1976.

Gary is widely recognized as a massive fan of Leicester City, having once played for the team and keeping them from being dissolved.

When the two teams met earlier this season in the Championship, it appeared that they had placed bets on the outcome.

On Monday, Elton John expressed his regrets to Gary Lineker for taking longer than expected to fulfil their football bet. It had been left unresolved for over two months.

The 76-year-old crooner, who was previously in charge of Watford FC, had to cough up some cash because of a personal wager he made with the 63-year-old sports reporter, who happens to be a massive fan of Leicester City.

Gary posted on Instagram and displayed a letter given to him by the famous musician Rocket Man. He also showed the ten-pound note that he had earned.

He wrote: 'It should never be claimed that Elton John doesn't repay what he owes. Leicester beat Watford 2-0.'

Sir Elton included a brief note alongside the money, which said: "Gary, my apologies for the delay! With the expenses of Christmas, we fell a bit short! I hope you have a fantastic new year. It was wonderful to catch up with you! Many thanks. Affectionately, Elton."

Last November, the team leading the Championship, Leicester, defeated Watford with a score of 2-0 thanks to the contribution of their striker Jamie Vardy, who entered the game as a substitute and scored the first goal for his team.

In the game, Vardy scored a second goal after being fouled by goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann, who was given a red card for his actions. The goal was awarded from a penalty kick.

During his first visit to the road that was renamed after his famous 1973 album, Sir Elton expressed his appreciation for the decision and commended it.

Occupation Road used to be the name of the street that runs beside Watford Football Club's stadium, Vicarage Road.

In spite of the situation, a faction of enthusiasts known as The 1881 Movement lobbied the governing body to change the street's name in recognition of Sir Elton. After persistent efforts, the name change was authorized and took effect just last month.

Gary posted on Instagram a letter from the singer of Rocket Man along with the ten pounds he won. Elton John paid his debts and showed his support for Leicester by acknowledging their 2-0 win against Watford.

Not long ago, Sir Elton expressed his approval of the choice to rename a street in honor of his famous album from 1973. During his recent visit to the area, he got to see the road for the first time since it was renamed.

In honor of Sir Elton's famous album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the street name has been modified to Yellow Brick Road. Additionally, this recognition extends to his current Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.

This week, the singer took pride in visiting the area where new yellow signs have been erected to indicate the official name change.

When discussing the road's new name, he expressed his enthusiasm, saying that renaming it to Yellow Brick Road was a clever and wonderful way for fans to acknowledge the time he spent there on a remarkable journey with former Watford manager Graham Taylor. He mentioned that he used to come to that place almost every day.

Being honored with having the stand named after me at Vicarage Road makes me feel truly valued. Even when I visit outside of game days, I am still filled with excitement because this is the place where I developed my passion for football and for my team.

I've mentioned this many times earlier, but Watford Football Club has played a bigger role in my life than I have played for the club during my lifetime.
