Nottingham Forest agree deal for Newcastle's Elliot Anderson

Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have come to a deal for midfielder Elliot Anderson to move permanently, The Athletic reports.

This move is a piece of Newcastle's larger plan to follow the Premier League's rules about making a profit and being sustainable by the deadline of Sunday, June 30th.

The Magpies were hesitant to let go of the young player from their academy, but they had to make the difficult decision in order to stay within financial rules and avoid penalties in the upcoming EPL season.

Anderson, who has played in 55 games for Newcastle since he started in 2021, is happy to make the move and won't cause any problems before the end of the month. This will help NUFC handle their money problems. He will have a medical check before finalizing the transfer, which is expected to happen on Sunday.

Anderson was sent on loan to Bristol Rovers in the 2021-2022 season where he delivered impressive performances in League Two before going back to Newcastle. In the previous season, he appeared in 26 games for the Magpies, starting in 10, but his playing time was limited due to a back injury.

The agreement to transfer Anderson comes after a recent deal that saw Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh move to Brighton & Hove Albion for around £33 million, with the intention of helping to address financial problems.

These transactions should provide Newcastle with the necessary funds to address their issues and comply with the PSR regulations before the beginning of the new league season on July 1st.

The club was discussing with several teams to sell players and raise money to prevent possible penalties, like losing points in the next season. There were some challenges in negotiations, especially with Everton and Lyon, but it seems like the team has finally reached agreements and will avoid any issues next year.

In the blog section, it was mentioned that aside from Anderson and Minteh, talks also revolved around the possibility of winger Anthony Elanga making a move to Newcastle in a separate transaction that would be finalized later in the summer transfer window. This arrangement is intended to impact NUFC's financial accounts for the next football season.
