The head of the Elizabeth Line has expressed regret after trains failed to reach central London for the second consecutive day.

ITV has reported that a software failure occurred during routine maintenance of the screens that display information to passengers. These screens are designed to inform travelers about upcoming train arrivals.

The £20 billion railway, launched in 2022, faced its first complications on Tuesday morning, which then resulted in ongoing train disruptions into Wednesday morning.

London's Mayor, Sadiq Khan, estimates that it has provided a significant boost of around £42 billion to the economy.

Howard Smith, the Director of the Elizabeth Line, expressed: "We are sorry for the inconvenience our customers have experienced on the Elizabeth Line."

We are still collaborating with Siemens, our signal provider, to address the problems that arose during the nighttime maintenance of the system.

"We recommend that customers prepare in advance, budget more time for their trips, and verify their plans by visiting our website or using the TfL Go app before they set out."

A representative from Siemens Mobility expressed: "We want to apologize to all those whose travels have been affected by the issues on the Elizabeth line."

"We assure you that we are diligently collaborating with TfL to resolve the issues as swiftly as possible."
