Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove fainted on the field during the Serie A match against Inter Milan, leading to the game's cancellation soon after.

Bove's teammates quickly requested medical assistance and gathered around the 22-year-old as he received attention. He was then promptly taken away on a stretcher to an ambulance parked close to the field.

Fiorentina players were visibly upset on the pitch, receiving support from their coaching staff as well as members of the Inter team. Many of them were in tears as both groups of players left the field.

The game was progressing at the opposite end when Bove fell to the ground in the 16th minute. Referee Daniel Doveri quickly stopped the match and subsequently called it off.

When Bove collapsed, the score was still tied at 0-0.

Sky Italy reports that Bove has been taken to Careggi Hospital in Florence.

A message from Serie A on X stated: "Keep fighting, Edoardo. We are all supporting you."

Bove, who came up through Roma's youth academy, moved to Fiorentina in August on a loan for the season, which includes an option for a permanent transfer.

This is the second occurrence this year where a player fainted during a Serie A game. The first incident involved Roma defender Evan Ndicka, who collapsed during his team's match against Udinese in April.
