Artisan Real Estate and REInvest to submit planning application for new green neighbourhood in Edinburgh
Artisan Real Estate, a company specializing in rejuvenation projects, and REInvest Asset Management, a fund manager, have revealed their specific proposals to revamp the former Deutsche Bank House in Edinburgh, aiming to construct 256 eco-friendly residences.
The developers are submitting a planning proposal to the City of Edinburgh Council in order to convert the empty location into a fresh community area known as 525 Park View.
The blog post discusses the installation of smart technology in 256 abodes, with 25% of them being affordable homes. These smart solutions include implementing air source heat pumps for each dwelling, which not only eliminate the need for fossil fuels but also reduce expenses for residents. This aligns with the developers' dedication to sustainability.
The plan will additionally include adaptable business areas, creating possibilities for coffee shops, stores, and collaborative workspaces.
Moreover, more than two-thirds of the designated region for development will consist of top-notch environmentally friendly areas. This will encompass a spacious central garden that can be used by the community, diverse green rooftops, and a wetland area that will not only enhance the local ecosystem but also play a crucial role in the broader sustainable urban drainage network.
The fresh strategies come after a period of discussion conducted by the developers in partnership with 7N Architects based in Edinburgh and the nearby community.
David Westwater, Artisan Real Estate's regional director for Scotland, expressed his enthusiasm for the chance to revitalize a rarely utilized structure. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the building's sustained existence by introducing a sustainable community in a conveniently located city center.
After considering the comments and suggestions received during the consultation process, we have put in significant effort to ensure that this project not only suits the location perfectly but also becomes an important component of the surrounding city center.
"We have made adjustments to the building's height, reducing it from nine to seven floors, while also taking care to ensure that the architectural design and materials used are in line with the local and historical surroundings."
