Flights resume at Edinburgh Airport after IT issue grounds planes
Flights in and out of Edinburgh Airport are resuming after being halted because of a technical problem with air traffic control.
This evening, over 150 flights planned to take off from and land at the airport faced cancellations, with at least 30 flights impacted by a problem that seemed to begin around 2 PM.
A few more routes were redirected to Manchester and Glasgow.
Earlier today, a representative from the airport announced on X that technicians are addressing the problem.
"Travelers are advised to verify their flight details with the airline before heading to the airport," it stated.

In a recent announcement, Air Navigation Solutions, the company responsible for air traffic management at Edinburgh Airport, reported that flights have restarted.
This afternoon, one of our systems at Edinburgh Airport encountered a technical problem.
"Our engineers have successfully brought the system back online," the statement to Sky News indicated, noting that flight operations at the airport resumed at 6:25 PM.
"We apologize for any trouble this may have caused."
This isn’t the only challenge the airport could encounter as Christmas approaches.
Drivers of North Air fuel tankers stationed at Edinburgh Airport are set to strike for nearly three weeks due to a disagreement regarding their wages.
The strike organized by Unite is set to start at 5 a.m. on December 18 and will conclude at 4:59 a.m. on January 6.
The compensation disagreement involves a declined 4.5% salary proposal from North Air, following what Unite describes as "years of wage increases that did not keep pace with inflation."
North Air is the sole provider of fuel for airlines operating from Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Airport, which welcomed 14.4 million travelers last year, operates with 35 airlines that offer flights to 152 different locations.
