As a result, Cindy was struck on the head with a snow shovel, rendering her unconscious on the ground. But who was responsible for the blow? And is she truly dead?

It might be anyone, given the number of people she's wronged before. Furthermore, if you think back a few weeks, Big Mo Harris (Laila Morse) was selling snow shovels at the market, which means that practically anyone could have gotten their hands on one.

We'll examine the primary suspects and include any new ones that appear... so get your detective skills sharpened!

Ian Beale: A Character Study Of Adam Woodyatt

Did Ian assault Cindy?

Ian likely has the strongest motive to go after Cindy. He’s the one who has suffered the most this holiday season after learning of her infidelity, which stemmed from her feeling unsatisfied with him. As a result, his self-esteem has taken a major hit, and so have his hopes for a joyful future.

Over the years, she has brought him a tremendous amount of suffering, particularly in 1996 when she allegedly tried to arrange for his murder by hiring a hitman. Maybe now is the moment for him to get the justice he deserves for that... but is Ian truly capable of committing murder?

Kathy Cotton: A Character Spotlight

Did Kathy ultimately take action against her ex-daughter-in-law? BBC/Kieron McCarron

Another strong contender for the suspect is likely Kathy. She has consistently shown disdain for Cindy. Additionally, she is Ian's mother, and she is extremely protective of her son, especially considering his health issues.

The two have always had a rocky relationship, so it was only a matter of time before Kathy found a solid reason to get rid of Cindy. On top of that, she was heard saying she wanted Cindy to be dead during the Christmas episode... but would she really go that far?

Lauren Branning: A Closer Look At Her Journey

Did Lauren, in her moment of desperation, finally miss her chance? BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron

Lauren stood to benefit the most from Cindy's troubles at the Queen Vic, as many had grown wary of her due to her struggle with painkiller addiction. However, when she eventually revealed the evidence of Cindy's terrible deeds, nobody seemed to appreciate her for it. It turns out that sometimes, it's better to keep certain truths to oneself.

Although Lauren was trying to do the right thing, she ended up looking quite harsh after breaking up two families on Christmas Day. It's clear that she's extremely angry that Cindy has continued to ruin her life. Surely, it's not too much to ask for one last move to put an end to her rival?

Gina Knight: A Spotlight On Francesca Henry

Did the passionate Gina betray her mother? BBC/Kieron McCarron

Listen up. Gina was surprisingly silent during the Christmas Day episode, but she had clearly reached her limit with her mom's behavior – she never really had much patience for it in the first place.

What was supposed to be a lovely Christmas with her new family and her extended old one became a disaster for Gina and Anna. They witnessed their newly married dad and step-mom appear to go through a breakup, while discovering that their recently reunited brother had an affair with their mom. It was a chaotic situation.

Gina was seen sneaking out the back door on Christmas Day, but was she really planning something sinister?

George Knight: A Character Unveiled

Did George believe that Cindy had finally destroyed his life for good?

Other than Ian, George faced the most difficulties that night. He discovered that his son had been involved with his ex-wife, and his reaction to this revelation was so intense that it drove a wedge between him and his new wife, Elaine.

The pub owner didn't receive much compassion from his staff when they threw him out of the bar and onto the streets. Seeking comfort at the boxing gym, George took out his frustrations on the punch bag... but was that all of his frustrations? Would using a shovel provide him with even more relief?

Elaine Knight: A Character Spotlight

Did Elaine attempt a new approach with Cindy? BBC/Kieron McCarron

Elaine makes an effort to help Cindy by giving her an opportunity to avoid the fallout of the secret being revealed and to start fresh in France with Ian, all in an attempt to maintain harmony. However, that plan didn't work out as she hoped, and Elaine didn't fully understand the chaos that would ensue from the secret.

It wasn't easy for her to learn that her husband still has lingering feelings for Cindy, even though they are complicated. She has put her marriage on the line to help him understand the impact of his actions. Given that Cindy is at the center of their issues, things would be a lot simpler if Cindy were permanently out of the equation this time.

Meet Junior Knight: Micah Balfour's Journey

Did the devastated Junior truly take the unimaginable step? BBC/Kieron McCarron

Confident Junior believed he was on the path to achieving it all—reuniting with his family, building a bond with his father, and being with the woman he thought he loved. However, everything changed after the surprises that came out during Christmas.

He not only found out that Cindy didn't love him, but he also had to accept that she still had feelings for his father. Once again, he felt rejected by his whole family. What will Junior do next?

Anna Knight: Molly Rainford's Character Insights

Did sweet Anna truly undergo a transformation in her personality because of Cindy's behavior? BBC/Kieron McCarron

While it's hard to imagine Anna ever losing her cool, everyone has their breaking point. All Anna hoped for was a wonderful Christmas with her family, but unfortunately, her mom ended up ruining the entire experience.

Although she has repeatedly found it in herself to forgive Cindy, this time might just be the breaking point for her.

Peter Beale: A Look At Thomas Law

Has Peter finally reached his breaking point after everything Cindy has put him through? BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron

Similar to Anna, we're not convinced this idea holds up. It seems unlikely that Peter would do something so hurtful to his mother, but he may have stood up for her a few too many times.

You can only shield someone as toxic as Cindy for so long, but would he really go so far as to hurt her?

In reality, Cindy created many foes on Albert Square, and she has even more from her history.
