The performer who played a significant role in a major plot twist on EastEnders responded to the show's shocking Christmas Day installment.
BBC soap lovers have been eagerly anticipating the resolution of a puzzle unveiled in an unexpected episode that fast-forwarded to the future in February.
In the Christmas episode of 2023, a male character's death was hinted at. His body was seen lying amidst six other characters: Denise Fox (played by Diane Parish), Kathy Cotton (played by Gillian Taylforth), Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright), Sharon Watts (played by Letitia Dean), Stacey Slater (played by Lacey Turner) and Suki Panesar (played by Balvinder Sopal).
During the past 10 months, spectators of EastEnders have been pondering about which character would be killed off and which one out of the six would emerge as the killer. Recently, in the latest episode, the puzzle was ultimately solved.

During the final part of the hour-long show, Linda unexpectedly takes the life of Keanu Taylor played by Danny Walters. The twist was even more shocking due to the events that happened prior to it: Denise defends Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) from her abusive spouse Nish (Navin Chowdhry) by attacking him with a bottle, leading many viewers to think Nish was the one killed in the mystery case.
Nish was able to survive the attack, but unfortunately, Keanu was not as lucky. When Keanu arrived at the Queen Vic, he became aggressive towards Sharon. She had cancelled their wedding after discovering that he was the one who had arranged for her son, Albie, to be kidnapped. As Keanu attempted to choke Sharon to death, Linda found herself uncertain of what to do. In order to safeguard her dear friend, Linda ended up stabbing Keanu in the back.
The actress Bright, who has been portraying the character of Linda for eight years starting from 2013, was presented with the revelation that she would be the killer in a BBC Three spin-off series that talked about one of the soap's lengthiest and most popular plotlines in its 38-year existence.
Bright was surprised and concerned when executive producer Chris Clenshaw informed her in September about the news. She initially thought he was joking, but upon realizing it was true, she didn't object to playing the role of the murderer. However, she was clearly anxious about keeping the secret to herself and exclaimed, "Oh Jesus, why have you done this to me? Now I have to make sure nobody finds out."
When questioned about her reaction to the news, Bright expressed, "I was completely unaware. What will happen to me now? Criminals are put behind bars."
Kellie Bright finds out that Linda is the killer on Christmas Day.
Social media is now buzzing with concerns from fans of the popular BBC soap about what will happen to Linda.
"Can anyone confirm that this doesn't imply she is departing ??!!" expressed one individual, and another included, "She must be seeing her entire profession vanish if Linda ends up incarceration...."
Another supporter added their opinion, stating: "It's imperative that Linda Carter doesn't face any consequences, I cannot bear to see her go."
