**Caution: This blog post may reveal important details about the Monday episode of EastEnders (19th August 2024) that is currently streaming on BBC iPlayer.**

In the most recent episode of EastEnders, Reiss Colwell (played by Jonny Freeman) shocked viewers by striking an unexpected agreement with Teddy Mitchell (played by Roland Manookian).

Reiss is keeping a dark secret that he killed his wife Debbie, and he is also dealing with danger from Phil Mitchell, who Reiss tricked into giving him money to pay off his debts.

Meanwhile, Teddy was not happy when his son Harry (Elijah Holloway) came back to Walford looking hurt and bloody after visiting their old house.

Teddy advised Harry not to return, then inquired Sharon about her and Phil's issues with Reiss.

At the coffee shop, Reiss was surprised when Phil told him he needed to pay by noon. Reiss's pregnant partner, Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy), shared their engagement news with Kathy Cotton (played by Gillian Taylforth), who wanted to celebrate by throwing them a party.

In The Queen Vic, Teddy cautioned Kathy about Phil being very angry over Reiss, while Reiss had to explain to Sonia how serious the situation had become with Phil.

When Phil angrily approached and attempted to bully Reiss and Sonia, Sonia brought up the fact that he had made a promise to her late relative, Jamie Mitchell (played by Jack Ryder), to take care of her.

However, Sharon and Teddy were able to diffuse the situation. When Sharon mentioned that it was unusual for Sonia to ignore Reiss's behavior, Sonia reassured Sharon that Debbie's life insurance money would be paid to her and Phil promptly.

Teddy convinced Phil to allow him to handle Reiss's debts, and afterwards bought Sharon a drink at the bar to fill her in on his involvement with Reiss. Sharon was unsure if Sonia was making the correct decision in supporting Reiss, but they have yet to discover his true potential.

When Teddy went to see Reiss at his house, he mentioned that he would be handling the money matters instead of Phil. Teddy shared with Reiss that he and his sons had been facing some difficulties recently, and could use Reiss's expertise in questionable accounting practices.

Reiss agreed to the deal, but how will both men do in the next few weeks? In the episodes that follow, Reiss and Sonia are taken into custody for Debbie's murder, while Teddy's family secret becomes even more captivating.

EastEnders is shown on BBC One from Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm, and is also available to watch on BBC iPlayer starting at 6am.
