Derby County vs Shrewsbury

Derby County blew a two-goal lead as Shrewsbury fought back to claim a point in a dramatic clash at Pride Park.

Paul Warne's side started brightly with Lewis Dobbin teeing up a chance for Jason Knight, who fell just as he was about to strike the ball.

Derby continued to dominate the early stages with David McGoldrick heading over the bar before the Rams eventually found the breakthrough.

Conor Hourihane teed up Roberts on the edge of the box and he let fly with a first-time strike that flew into the top corner leaving Marko Marosi with no chance.

Derby hunted further goals and they were rewarded on the stroke of half-time when Jason Knight headed a ball into the path of McGoldrick.

The striker took one touch before unleashing a lethal finish to take his tally to 19 goals for the season.

But Shrewsbury fought back strongly after the break with Tom Bayliss squeezing a free-kick past Joe Wildsmith. And Luke Leahy then equalised from the spot when Jake Rooney was adjudged to have made a foul inside the area.

Derby had a glorious chance to win it in stoppage time but Dobbin was denied by a super save from Marko Marosi.

Here's how the players rated...

Joe Wildsmith: All of his work was largely routine in the first half as Shrewsbury struggled to break down Derby's defence. Looked as though he could have done better for the free-kick the visitors scored. 5

Jake Rooney: His first game since the West Ham FA Cup defeat and the young defender was assured in everything he did at right-back up until the break. But gave away the penalty in the second half as Derby lost control. Subbed. 5

Craig Forsyth: Was having a solid game but then lost possession and then brought down Christian Saydee early in the second half. Unfortunately, that was punished by Bayliss' free-kick and Shrews had impetus after that. 5

Eiran Cashin: Couple of passes went astray that were fortunately never punished. Made one thumping challenge that was mistimed after the break that earned him a yellow card. 5

Haydon Roberts: Gave Derby the lead with a glorious strike. The on-loan Brighton defender won't hit many better goals than that in his career. 6

Korey Smith: Was deployed in midfield and was excellent in the first 45 minutes as he controlled midfield and was then moved to right-back in the second half. Was Derby's best player 7

Conor Hourihane: Caught the eye with some glorious crossfield passing and registered yet another assist for Roberts' goal. Didn't have that same time after the break as Shrewsbury pressed with intensity. 5.5

Jason Knight: Played a vital role in McGoldrick's goal as it was his header that set the striker free and he took care of the rest with a clinical finish. Worked so hard. 5.5

Tom Barkhuizen: Got into the box when required and offered good support out wide. Did very well in the first half but didn't continue that into the second and was subbed. 5

David McGoldrick: What more is there to say? The forward is an ice-cold assassin when the chances arise and took his goal with such lethality. His 19th of the season in all competitions. 6

Lewis Dobbin: Tested for chinks in the armour whenever he had the ball and never stopped running forwards but just failed to find that end product. Was denied in stoppage time. 5
