Denzel announces he will be in ‘Black Panther 3’ and it will be one of his last roles before retirement | CNN
Talk about the awards season is already heating up for Denzel Washington in “Gladiator II,” but he has his sights set on what's ahead.
In a recent appearance on Australia's "Today" show, Washington discussed his career and what he has planned for the future.
The acclaimed Oscar-winning actor expressed that his recent project selections focus on the director, emphasizing that he is “only keen on collaborating with top talent.”
"I’m not sure how many more movies I’ll be making," said Washington, who is 69 years old. "Probably not a lot. I want to explore new opportunities that I haven’t yet pursued."
Washington shared details about his forthcoming performance on Broadway in Shakespeare's "Othello," where he will portray the main character. This is a role he previously took on earlier in his career when he was just 22 years old.
"Following that, I'm set to work on Hannibal. I've also been in discussions with Steve McQueen about a movie," he shared. "Next, Ryan Coogler is crafting a role for me in the upcoming Black Panther film."
Marvel has not made any official announcements regarding a third installment in the "Black Panther" series.
Washington mentioned that he intends to take on leading roles in film adaptations of "Othello" and "King Lear." Following those projects, he plans to retire.
