Why Declan Rice was pushed and left fuming by Slovakia manager after England Euro 2024 win

Arsenal's Declan Rice got into a heated argument with Slovakia manager Francesco Calzona after England's intense victory in the Euro 2024 round of 16.

England was behind for most of the game following Ivan Schranz's early goal that gave Slovakia the lead. However, Jude Bellingham managed to pull off an amazing overhead kick to score a late equalizer, sending the match into extra time. In the extra period, Harry Kane came through with a vital goal shortly after a quick break, putting England in the lead.

Even though Slovakia tried hard to score a goal, England managed to hold them off and advance to the quarter-finals to face Switzerland. Unfortunately, the post-match celebrations were overshadowed by a dispute between Rice, Calzona, and the referee as the game came to an end.

During the game, Rice tried to talk to the referee but Calzona pushed him out of the way, upsetting Rice. Sam Matterface from ITV, who was at the match, said, "Rice and the manager bumped into each other at the end."

"Calzona seemed eager to confront the officials at the end of the match, leading to some pushing and shoving. Rice was quickly pulled away and the situation didn't escalate further. England's focus now shifts to Gareth Southgate aiming for his seventh knockout game as manager," as stated by football.london.

Mark Pougatch, talking from the ITV studio, said: "To recap what just happened, Francesco Calzona, the coach of Slovakia, tried to talk to the referee, but Declan Rice told him not to interfere. Calzona then pushed him away, and the incident was resolved swiftly."

Even though there was a disagreement, Rice is likely pleased with how things turned out after playing the full 120 minutes alongside his Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka, who also stayed on the field for the entire match. Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale didn't play in the game but was prepared to back up Rice during his confrontation with Calzona.
