Dayle Haddon: Former Sports Illustrated model dies of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning
Dayle Haddon, the actress, activist, and former Sports Illustrated model, has passed away due to what officials suspect was carbon monoxide poisoning.
Authorities discovered the body of a 76-year-old man in a second-floor bedroom on Friday morning after emergency dispatchers received a call about an unconscious individual at a residence in Solebury Township, Pennsylvania.
A 76-year-old man from Erie, who was later named Walter J Blucas, is currently in serious condition.
Emergency personnel discovered elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the building.
Authorities think that the leak originated from "a malfunctioning flue and exhaust pipe in a gas heating system."
Haddon graced the covers of popular magazines such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Esquire during the 1970s and 1980s. She was also featured in the 1973 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
She was featured in approximately twenty films between the 1970s and 1990s, one of which was the 1994 movie Bullets Over Broadway, which starred John Cusack.
After having her daughter Ryan in the mid-1970s, Haddon stepped away from modeling. However, she needed to return to work following her husband's passing in 1991.
In this instance, she discovered that the modeling world was much less welcoming. Haddon shared with The New York Times in 2003, "They told me, 'At 38, you're not marketable anymore.'"
