McCall recently had surgery to remove a non-cancerous tumor from her brain, but had already finished filming the series, which is typically recorded in advance, before her procedure.

Her fresh appearance in the promotional images for the ITV1 show is reportedly just a coincidence. McCall has chosen to go with a very short blonde bob instead of her typical longer, darker hairstyle. It’s believed that she’s wearing a wig in the photos, as social media updates from before and after her surgery feature her original hairstyle.

McCall, the host of My Mum, Your Dad, expressed her desire to be back at work in January after her surgery in November. However, she confirmed that the new season of The Masked Singer, which will premiere in the new year, is already completed.

At the end of November, her partner Michael Douglas shared some encouraging news on social media. He mentioned that she would be taking a break from work until mid-January, giving her plenty of time to rest and recover. He described the past few weeks as both emotional and extraordinary, adding that they are clearly on the mend.

In addition to McCall making her return to television, the Masked Singer will introduce a new panelist when it returns in 2025.

Maya Jama, the host of Love Island, will replace Rita Ora in the cast following the announcement of her role earlier this year.

Meet The New Masked Singers!

Season six is set to feature an entirely fresh group of mystery celebrities who will take the stage in disguise every week. Although you might have caught a glimpse of some of these characters in the latest TV commercial, the complete lineup won’t be revealed until after the Christmas holiday.

Among the various costumes featured in the TV trailer, there’s a spaghetti outfit, a pair of wind-up chattering teeth, a zebra, a kingfisher, a toad donning a cupcake costume, and even a crab.

Naturally, we'll need to wait for the first reveal to discover who is underneath the mask, but enthusiasts of the series are eager for the speculation to start.
