Davina McCall has revealed that she is set to have an operation to take out a brain tumor.

The television host and judge from The Masked Singer is set to undergo surgery to take out a 14mm non-cancerous brain tumor, which she found out about during a recent health examination.

On Friday, she took to Instagram to announce that she has a "very rare" colloid cyst, a condition that impacts only three out of every million individuals.

In a recent video she shared on her Instagram, McCall said, "Hello! I'm sharing this as it will go live on Friday morning. I'm doing this because, a few months back, I gave a talk about menopause for a company and they offered me a health scan as a thank-you. I thought I would do great, but it turned out I discovered I have a benign brain tumor known as a colloid cyst, which is quite uncommon."

McCall shared that when she first discovered the tumor, she tried to avoid the reality of the situation for some time. However, she eventually reached out to neurosurgeons to get their insights and gathered various perspectives on her condition.

"I came to the conclusion that I need to have it removed," she explained. "It's too large for the area—it completely occupies it. It's 14mm wide, and it has to go because if it gets any bigger, it could cause problems."

The speaker will have a craniotomy, which is a type of surgery that involves removing a portion of the skull to reach the brain, in order to remove the cyst.

"Please keep me in your thoughts," she expressed.

Michael Douglas, McCall's partner, appeared in the video to reassure fans that he is looking after her and that she will be "out of touch" as she recuperates. She is expected to stay in the hospital for a total of nine days.

"I want everyone to know that I'll be watching over her during the whole procedure," Douglas shared, adding with a laugh, "Actually, I even suggested that I perform the surgery myself to ensure it goes well – but they wouldn’t allow me to."

McCall noted that they had experienced quite a lot together, but they were staying positive. "I'm going to take a break from my phone for a bit, so Michael will keep you updated."

She reassured her fans that she is well cared for and has complete confidence in her surgeon and their team.

"I'm putting my trust in my surgeon; he knows exactly what he's doing. I'll focus on my recovery afterwards," McCall said with determination. "I'll catch up with you once it's all done."

A colloid cyst is an uncommon type of brain tumor, affecting roughly three individuals out of every million. As explained by the London Neurology Partnership, these cysts are tiny sacs filled with fluid that can be found in or near the lateral and third ventricles of the brain.

McCall’s famous friends have been expressing their support online. Singer-songwriter Kimberly Wyatt posted, “Hey sweetheart, I’m thinking of you—I can only picture what you’re going through. You’re in my thoughts and in my heart. Take care of yourself, beautiful.”

BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac expressed her affection, saying, “You beautiful lady. I'm sending you all my love xx,” while TV host Amanda Holden remarked that she was “sending a tremendous amount of love” to McCall.

TV host Rylan expressed, "We’re all keeping you in our thoughts, lovely."

Ashley Roberts, the former singer of the Pussycat Dolls, expressed her support by saying, "Wishing you all the love, beautiful! I'm sending positive healing energy your way. Love you so much!"

A representative from The Brain Tumour Charity released a statement indicating that they had been providing support to McCall prior to her surgery.

Everyone at The Brain Tumour Charity hopes for the best results for her during this procedure. As a source of inspiration to many, we appreciate that Davina has decided to help raise awareness about this truly challenging disease.
