A past county cricketer from Nottinghamshire has been put on leave by his employers after reportedly being featured in a video where Premier League referee David Coote insulted former Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp, calling him a “c***” and “f****** arrogant.”

Coote's supposed remarks are being looked into by the refereeing organization PGMOL and the Football Association (FA), with PGMOL considering the video evidence to be authentic.

The other individual in the video has been identified as Ben Kitt, who is currently employed by the Nottingham-based executive search company Forsyth Barnes. Before this role, he spent two seasons playing professional cricket. Although Kitt did not play in any professional matches for Nottinghamshire CCC, he played frequently for their Second XI team.

"We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and have placed Ben on full paid leave while we conduct a thorough investigation," stated Roheel Ahmad, co-founder of Forsyth Barnes, in a release to the PA news agency.

"While we're still collecting all the information, we can confirm that the video was recorded several years before Ben joined Forsyth Barnes."

In the leaked video, 29-year-old Kitt is shown inquiring about Klopp and Liverpool to Coote.

Former referee and now commentator Mike Dean expresses concerns that the ongoing controversy will negatively impact referees throughout all tiers of English football.

"It affects everyone concerned negatively. When I saw it yesterday, I was honestly shocked," he told Sky Sports.

I believe that this issue will have a serious impact on referees at every level, from the very basics of the game to the Football League. Those who are working their way up will particularly feel the consequences.

"You really need to watch your words, and it was completely unexpected for David to act that way. I was shocked when I found out."

"As referees, it's important to avoid putting yourself in such situations, regardless of your actions. You can express your thoughts privately with friends or colleagues, but it’s crucial to remember that allowing someone to record your conversations could lead to trouble later."
