London: Rishi Sunak has surprised everyone by naming David Cameron as the new foreign secretary of Britain in his recent appointment. This is definitely a surprising comeback for the former prime minister.

Cameron made the decision to become a member of the House of Lords, a lifetime position, after stepping down as Prime Minister in 2016 due to his defeat in the Brexit referendum. He will use this new role to work within the government.

Sunak is implementing a significant shake-up of his government's structure, as part of his attempt to address the Conservative Party's significant deficit in public support.

The process of reorganizing the government started on Monday and involved the dismissal of the Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who was seen as an important member of the conservative party’s right wing. The new Home Secretary is James Cleverly, who was previously the country’s foreign secretary.

When Cameron made his comeback on Monday to one of the most prominent roles in the government, it caused a stir in Westminster and the Conservative Party.

This is the first time since the 1970s that a former prime minister has served in the Cabinet of their successor after a war. Alec Douglas-Home, a Conservative politician, was appointed as the foreign secretary during Ted Heath's government.

Despite being considered as moderate Conservatives, Sunak and Cameron took opposing stances during the 2016 Brexit vote. Cameron, who served as leader of a coalition government in 2010 and managed to secure a noteworthy election triumph for the Tories in 2015, has lately voiced his disapproval of the prime minister's choice to scrap significant sections of the HS2 train route.

In 2021, the former Prime Minister's image was tarnished due to his involvement in a lobbying scandal. There are some within the Conservative party who have conflicting opinions when it comes to his performance on foreign policy matters. During his time as leader, he touted a period of heightened relations between the UK and China, dubbing it a "Golden Era" and welcoming President Xi Jinping for an official visit.

Cameron's Aim To Assist Sunak's Delivery

After he was appointed, Cameron expressed that the United Kingdom will support its allies, enhance its collaborations, and ensure that their opinions are well-represented.

He said: "Although I may not have agreed with certain choices made, it is evident to me that Rishi Sunak is a powerful and competent leader, displaying exceptional guidance during a challenging period."

My goal is to assist him in providing safety and wealth that our nation requires. I aim to be a valuable member of the team that serves the United Kingdom. Our team's capabilities will be showcased to the country during the general election.

However, Pat McFadden from the opposing Labour Party took advantage of the new recruitment to criticize Sunak. Sunak has recently tried to position himself against various governments of different political affiliations.

Some time back, Rishi Sunak mentioned that David Cameron was a failure in the current set up. However, now he has reversed his stance and is using him as his savior," McFadden humorously stated.

This ongoing tale is receiving updates.
