Dave Myers: Hairy Bikers star's wife Liliana pays tribute to 'wonderful, brave man'

Dave Myers, who is one of the stars of Hairy Bikers, has unfortunately passed away from cancer at the age of 66. His wife has shared a heartfelt tribute to her husband, praising him for his bravery and all of the wonderful things he has done.
Myers gained fame as a part of the adored cooking duo on television.
Liliana Myers expressed her condolences on Facebook, saying "May my beloved rest in eternal peace. He was a brave and amazing person. I hope to see him again in the future."
Additional praises have poured in from individuals who collaborated with Myers and Si King, their TV companion, and people they encountered during their motorcycle voyages throughout the United Kingdom.
For 20 years, the duo journeyed across the nation and the globe to create popular programs centered around the cuisine and individuals they encountered.
The most recent and final season of The Hairy Bikers is titled Go West.
The Hairy Bikers' initial show, The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook from 2006, was filmed in Romania. While filming there, Myers encountered his spouse-to-be, who worked at a hotel.
They stayed in contact, but their romantic feelings didn't blossom until she traveled to the UK to spend time with him during her vacation several years after.
Looking back at 2021, she remembered, "I was really impressed by a small thing. When I arrived from the airport, he picked me up. It was already midnight and when he opened the fridge, he asked me, 'What would you like me to prepare for you?'"
I had never before experienced a man cooking for me in my entire life. This was the initial thing that caught my attention. Although I was just visiting as a friend, my heart melted instantly from that point onwards.
After Myers passed away, other TV chefs like Paul Hollywood, Nigella Lawson, Andi Oliver, and James Martin have shared their respects and admiration for him. James Martin went as far as to refer to Myers as "an exceptional person".
During a segment on BBC Radio 4's The World At One, Saturday Kitchen presenter Matt Tebbutt remarked that he is "one of the virtuous individuals."
Tebbutt expressed that working with him was a delightful experience. He had a very humble demeanor and exhibited normal qualities, which made him very relatable. He did not display any extravagant behaviors.
He was a truly delightful person who had a real passion for his work. This was evident in all his performances.
The public admired him for his relatable personality. Regardless of where you encountered him, be it at a store or a bar, he came across as an ordinary and amiable individual.
Myers had a career with the BBC for 23 years as a make-up artist that focused on prosthetics before becoming famous. It was during the production of the 1995 historical film The Gambling Man that he first encountered King.
One of the people who starred in the show was actor Robson Green. Green posted something on his Instagram account, saying "David's friendly and cheerful facial expression, loud laughter and true affection for other people were not only what made him successful but also showed how much he enjoyed living his life."
We were delighted to see him on our screens, and his views and character motivated both his acquaintances and others to appreciate the joys of having a pleasant meal with family and friends.
Pam Royle, a television journalist, had prior acquaintance with Myers before he became a TV personality. On the platform X, she expressed that he was a genuinely pleasant person.

Matt Waldron, the top cook at the Stackpole Inn in Pembrokeshire, talked about his experience hosting The Hairy Bikers Go Local and shared that he thought the guest was a "truly pleasant guy."
During an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, he spoke of their immense love for both food and travel. He mentioned how their enthusiasm was contagious, specifically in their efforts to aid nearby eateries and food suppliers. This was a major aspect of their character.
Jo Williams, who used to lead Wilson's Endowed Primary School in Over Kellet in Lancashire, remembered when the duo came by back in 2008.
During an interview with BBC Radio Lancashire, she recounted how they brought joy to the children by dedicating a considerable amount of their time. By pressing his face against the glass and making funny expressions, he was able to create a delightful atmosphere that caused all the kids to laugh uncontrollably.
"Afterward, he turned into a companion of the school. The youngsters would send him Christmas cards and he would answer. Dave, specifically, would send us messages and well wishes."
'His Presence Radiated Joy'
In Blythburgh, Suffolk, there's a pig farmer named Jimmy Butler who had a visit from the Hairy Bikers. They got to try his wife's cooking and then went out to see the pigs. However, they ended up sitting in the mud while they were there.
During his interview with BBC Radio Suffolk, he expressed his admiration for them because they remain consistent in their demeanor, whether on or off camera.
They were a delightful duo who possessed an exceptional understanding of cooking and the globe. They were also affable individuals, and working with them was a positive experience. It was truly a pleasure.
Chef Tommy Banks expressed the same sentiment, stating that he cherishes the moments he shared with Dave as he always brought energy and light to the room. This was shared via his Instagram account.
He was an authentic, compassionate and benevolent individual. No matter what challenges he faced, he always maintained a positive attitude, especially in recent times. He was truly exceptional and his absence will be deeply felt.
'Constant Excitement'
Chef Gennaro Contaldo expressed, "He was an amazing person; I will feel his absence with his positive attitude and charming smile."
Orion Books, the publishers of The Hairy Bikers, recognized Myers' enthusiastic and intense devotion to food and travel.
Working with Dave was always exciting, and everyone who had the opportunity to work with him will agree that he was an extremely motivating, compassionate, and diligent individual.
In the meantime, supporters on social platforms expressed that the Hairy Bikers had motivated them and their loved ones to experiment with cooking more often.
