Darren Till promised to "destroy" Tommy Fury during their press conference in London before security had to step in to break them apart.
Fury is set to make a comeback to the boxing ring in his hometown of Manchester on January 18, where he will face off against ex-UFC fighter Till at the Co-op Live arena.
After a courteous beginning to the press conference, the atmosphere rapidly soured when Till made a threatening remark about kicking Fury, who is the half-brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson. This escalated when Till's father, John Fury, angrily tossed a drink at Till, prompting security to intervene.
Till, 31, from Liverpool, stated: "For two years, no one wanted to face me in the ring. My manager suggested I take on Tommy, so I agreed. I haven’t kept track of how many tickets I’ve sold or what my payment will be; I’m just focused on taking Tommy down."
“I haven’t had the chance to watch him compete often. I know he’s gone up against some professional fighters, but I haven’t really seen any of those matches.”
"I'm going to completely dominate him, really take him apart, pressure him relentlessly, and wipe the floor with him. He understands that."
"I don't feel threatened by anyone here. As an MMA fighter, I have the skills to kick or elbow you if I wanted to, and I know that nobody would step in to stop me."
"When it comes down to it, if I can't win against you, I'll just take a swing at you. I'm going to hit you right in the face, and you'll be caught off guard. If I'm in a tough spot during the fight, then I'm going for a kick to your face."
"You’re lacking in thought."
Fury, who remains undefeated in his 10 pro fights but hasn't stepped into the ring since his majority decision victory against YouTube star KSI in October 2023, and Till exchanged words before tensions escalated.
Fury responded, "Darren, you've got to step up and face the challenge, my friend."
"Every person I've sparred with, whether they competed in the Olympics or turned professional, has brought something unique to the experience."
"That's not going to happen, Darren. We're not in a cage anymore; we're in a boxing ring now, and you'll soon realize that boxing is a whole different game compared to MMA."
Till achieved a technical knockout victory against Mohammad Mutie in his boxing debut in July, after finishing his MMA career with an 18-5 record.
