Danielle Moore, the energetic frontwoman of the British dance group Crazy P, has passed away at the age of 52. The band shared the sad news on their Instagram page on Sunday (Sept. 2). “We are heartbroken to inform you all of the devastating and unexpected loss of our dear Danielle Moore, who tragically passed away on Friday afternoon (August 30),” they wrote, without giving further details on the cause of her death.

"We are in shock over the news and we know you will be too. She was such a big part of our lives and we loved her dearly," they added. "Our hearts are shattered. We need time to come to terms with what has happened. Danielle dedicated her life to love, kindness, community, and music. She lived a vibrant life. We will always miss her dearly."

One week before Moore passed away, Crazy P shared a video of the singer performing on stage at the Lost Village Festival in Bristol, England. She was wearing her iconic fedora hat during the performance. Crazy P was scheduled to perform at the Forwards Festival in Bristol on Sunday (Sept 1), but the performance was canceled after Moore's death.

"We are grateful to everyone who attended this weekend, as there is much to celebrate. However, it is with sadness that we must announce the passing of our dear friend Danielle Moore, the beloved singer of Crazy P. The band was scheduled to perform this weekend at our event, as they have done many times in the past. Danielle was a special human being and her loss has left us devastated. Today, we will be reminiscing about our love and memories of Danielle."

The disco house band Crazy P, originally known as Crazy P–is, was created in the mid-1990s by Chris Todd and Jim Baron while they were students at the University of Nottingham. Their first album, A Nice Hot Bath With..., was released in 1999 on Paper Recordings. In 2002, Moore and keyboardist Mav Kendricks joined the group, along with bassist Tim Davies, and they released their second album, The Wicked Is Music.

They put out five additional albums throughout the years, including their latest one, Age of the Ego in 2019. Moore also performed solo as a DJ. In June, they released their first new single in over three years, the lively "Any Signs of Love."

Irish singer Róisin Murphy wrote a heartfelt message in memory of Moore on X, saying, "We have lost one of the most beautiful souls. The talented Danielle Moore from Crazy P has passed away unexpectedly, taking a part of the light with her. She was a music icon, a wonderful individual, and a talented singer, performer, and songwriter. Her presence will truly be missed and mourned in our community. She touched everyone she met with her warmth and compassion. My deepest condolences go out to her loved ones. Like many others, I deeply loved and respected her."

On her agency's website, Moore stated that performing is her passion. She feels like a completely different person when she is on stage, able to embody any mood. It makes her feel strong and confident to distance herself from her own vulnerable side. Growing up in Manchester, she discovered her love for dance music on crowded dance floors, which inspired her to bring that same energy to her lively and cheerful performances.

Even though there is no specific date mentioned, the biography mentions that after the release of Age of the Ego - an album she considers her best work in terms of lyrics - Crazy P had plans to release more projects to the public. In addition, she also had planned solo works where Danielle would display her own musical talent.
