Danielle Moore, the main vocalist and public face of the electronic group Crazy P, has passed away at the age of 52.

In a message shared on Instagram, the band announced that she passed away unexpectedly and tragically on August 30th.

The rest of the band said in a statement that they were in shock and devastated by the news. They expressed their love and admiration for Danielle, highlighting her impact on their lives and the community. They need time to come to terms with the loss and remember Danielle for the incredible person she was.

It is unknown what led to Moore's passing.

Music artists like JD Twitch from Optimo, Róisín Murphy, and Sister Bliss honored Moore. Twitch wrote on X, "She was amazing. A truly kind-hearted person."

Chris Todd and Jim Baron formed the house and disco group called Crazy P (formerly Crazy Penis) while they were studying at university in Nottingham in the mid-90s. They were discovered by Paper Recordings, a label based in Manchester. In 2002, Moore joined the group along with bassist Tim Davies and percussionist Mav Kendricks. Together, they have released seven studio albums and several remix albums.

Moore was raised in a town close to Manchester and began frequenting the Haçienda club when she turned 18. "That club provided me with some of my most influential dancing experiences," she shared with Disco Pogo in a recent interview. "I felt free to dance however I pleased and truly be myself."

This energy carried over into her position as the lead singer of Crazy P, where Moore gained a reputation for her passionate vocals and entertaining stage presence. In her bio from her performance agency, she is credited with saying, "Being on stage means everything to me. It's like stepping into a different version of myself and embracing different emotions. It's truly empowering to let go of my own vulnerability."

Moore, originally from Manchester and later living in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, shared how important it was for the group when they supported Faithless in 2005/6. She explained that their most recent album, Age of the Ego, released in 2019, is the one she is most proud of in terms of lyrics. In this album, Moore focused on writing more politically charged lyrics, criticizing the obsession with famous politicians and celebrities and promoting grassroots community efforts, public sector investments, and taxing wealthy individuals who have exploited the country.

Moore also had a successful career as a solo DJ that was highly sought after. In a recent interview with Disco Pogo, she mentioned facing criticism for not being considered "stable" or "settled" in her career. Despite the raised eyebrows, Moore feels fortunate for the experiences she has had through traveling, making memories, and sharing music. She expressed that she wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.
