Viking, an Australian shepherd, was declared as the ultimate champion of the Crufts dog show that took place at the NEC in Birmingham in 2024.

A dog named Viking hailing from Solihull, Birmingham managed to triumph over 24,000 furry competitors coming from various parts of the earth to clinch the grand prize of the contest on Sunday while being just three years old.

The pastoral group winner in the show was Viking, which is co-owned by Melanie Raymond, John Shaw, and Kerry Kirtley.

According to Ms Raymond, a dog breeder who comes from a family line of breeders and resides within close proximity to the showground, the ultimate goal of all breeders is to achieve the Best in Show title at Crufts.

The Viking emerged victorious out of a massive pool of over 20,000 dogs.

When asked if he met the expectations, she replied by saying that he did indeed. She further added that she never doubted his abilities as he always delivered his best. Even when someone new comes in, he is always ready and enthusiastic. He thoroughly enjoys the work and puts in his best effort.

The Kennel Club, an organization dedicated to the well-being and education of dogs, explains that the breed originated in the United States and was bred specifically as a sheepdog to aid the shepherds. Their success in competitions and shows is attributed to their beautiful coat colors and impressive agility in motion.

Melanie Raymond and her Australian Shepherd Viking were ecstatic when they were declared the winners of the Best in Show competition. They celebrated their victory together!

A dog named Zen, who is a Jack Russell terrier from Japan and is nine years old, won the terrier group and then was named as the reserve dog.

Demonstrators were expelled from the venue on the final day of Crufts. One member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) displayed a placard that stated "Avoid Breeders" and was escorted out by security when attempting to access the exhibit area.

A Jack Russell Terrier named Zen, who hails from Japan, has snagged the runner-up spot on the last day of the Crufts Dog Show.

Someone speaking for The Kennel Club stated: "During Crufts, there was a protest conducted by Peta. They were immediately taken out to safeguard the welfare and security of the dogs and their owners, who are our top concern."

Peta argues that Crufts worsens the problem of stray canines, but this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, Crufts is a one-of-a-kind event that teaches millions of attendees and Channel 4 viewers how to choose the perfect dog for their way of life. This means that both rescued pups and bouncy puppies are matched with the right owners, ensuring they stay in a loving home forever.
