Corporate social responsibility

Two days back, Sarah OBeirne shared an article on various topics like Awards, Energy management, ESG, News and Sustainability.

At its annual Supplier Conference, HMRC awarded the title of Best Sustainability Supplier of the Year to Wates' FM division.

Wates received recognition for their creative Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) approach which they worked on with HM Revenue & Customs. This strategy highlighted the potential of Energy Management Systems to decrease the impact on the environment whilst also saving money.

Wates has recently introduced an ESG strategy as part of its ongoing efforts to assist HMRC. They have been collaborating since 2019 to provide various hard FM services to the UK estate.

To do their part in preserving the environment, Wates set up state-of-the-art Energy Management Systems at eight different HMRC regional centres. These systems have helped to cut costs, with each site saving over £43,000 per year. Additionally, the systems have made a significant impact on reducing the amount of CO2 being produced, with an average daily reduction of 124 kg by better controlling the use of air handling units and chillers.

The Wates Innovation Network (WIN) Portal was established in 2020 in order to link Wates' clients and members of the construction industry to a handpicked assortment of eco-friendly innovation suppliers. This move was intended to lower the environmental impact of their practices.

The crew of Wates FM put together occasions where providers were given a chance to exhibit their imaginative concepts in line with HMRC objectives and aims. Dr. Zainab Dangana, Head of Sustainable Technology at Wates, gave support for these pitch events.

Antony Collett, the head of Wates’ FM sector, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership with HMRC that resulted in the enhancement of their ESG strategy. They were able to obtain significant outcomes and make a positive impact on society. The recognition from HMRC proves their excellence in the field, and they are excited to further collaborate with HMRC to make a valuable contribution to the environment.

In light of the ongoing economic downturn which has led to inflated prices and a greater strain on resources, facilities managers must guarantee that they possess dependable building and maintenance services. This is paramount in effectively managing costs and minimising the requirement for urgent repairs. Additionally, managing drainage and plumbing can pose difficulties given the unpredictability of weather patterns such as droughts or floods. To overcome these challenges, it is important to adhere to rigorous regulations and avoid negatively impacting the environment.

Metro Rod, a company that specializes in drainage in the UK, has started a survey to investigate the primary concerns of facility managers when it comes to taking care of plumbing and drainage. The survey will look into how facility managers evaluate their supply chains to guarantee that they work with partners that provide a good return on investment while meeting the highest standards.

The outcomes shall be uploaded on the internet for you to check your standing in comparison to your counterparts in the industry.

Completing the survey will only require 5-10 minutes of your time. As a token of our gratitude, you will be automatically enrolled in a prize draw. A fortunate person will be randomly selected from the pool of entrants to win a £100 Amazon gift card.
