Coronation Street killer Joel has Bethany in his sights as he covers his tracks

Coronation Street

In the recent episode of Coronation Street on May 31, 2024, it was revealed that Joel Deering, played by Calum Lill, may be setting his sights on Bethany Platt, portrayed by Lucy Fallon. This came after it was discovered that Joel was responsible for the death of Lauren Bolton, played by Cait Fitton. Joel's true nature has finally been exposed.

In this week's episode, flashbacks revealed to viewers that Joel had been Lauren's hidden older boyfriend. They also showed that he viciously struck her with a piece of chair leg, resulting in her death.

Nonetheless, authorities took into custody Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper), who had exploited and harmed children, for the homicide offense. DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) was responsible for placing Lauren's hair in Nathan's van, leading to his arrest.

Joel persuaded Nathan to confess to a crime that would result in a more lenient punishment, all while attempting to conceal his own involvement.

The initial accused individual, Roy Cropper (portrayed by David Neilson), got out of jail and got a visit from DS Lisa Swain (played by Vicky Myers) at his residence. She gave him the news that all the accusations that were brought against him have now been withdrawn.

Lisa encouraged Roy to let go of Carla Connor's (Alison King) deceits, and they had an open and honest conversation.

In the blog section published on ITV, it was mentioned that Joel coerced Ellie to deceive.

Carla expressed her gratitude towards Lisa and fulfilled her commitment to support Lisa's daughter in gaining practical knowledge by offering work experience at the factory. Lisa also informed Carla that Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll), her nephew, would not be penalized for obstructing justice, which brought a sense of relief to Carla.

Bethany was concerned that Nathan would be falsely accused, and she suspected her mother Sarah Platt was responsible for it. As a result, she feared that he would be released from custody.

Bethany and Daniel Osbourne (played by Rob Mallard) got in touch with Nicky Wheatley (portrayed by Kimberly Hart-Simpson) to ask for the phone number of Ellie Benton (played by Lola Blue), who is a sex worker in need of protection.

Ellie agreed to meet Bethany face to face and revealed that Nathan had been violent towards her. After hearing this, Bethany was convinced that Nathan must be responsible for Lauren's death as well.

After Bethany departed, Joel came out of the bedroom and praised Ellie's acting skills. He then proceeded to give her payment.

Joel overheard Bethany's conversation while at The Rovers and later returned to his proper routine by spending time with his slumbering girlfriend Dee-Dee Bailey in her apartment.

Afterwards, he was observed calmly drinking wine while examining a picture of Bethany. The photo was extracted from an article she wrote about Nathan's violent behavior. As he enlarged the photo, it was apparent that Bethany might be in significant peril from someone she's unaware can cause harm.

According to the latest updates from Coronation Street, Bethany is going to approach Joel for some legal assistance because she has become a victim of credit card fraud. It remains uncertain what Joel's response will be and what his subsequent actions might entail.
