Dana White, on Thursday night, declared that the main fight of UFC 303, which involved Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, will not take place.
As per the head of UFC, the individual from Ireland had to withdraw from the bout owing to an injury.
Instead of the previously scheduled main event, there will now be a different one featuring Alex Pereira and Jiří Prochazka competing for the light heavyweight championship. Meanwhile, the co-main event will showcase former featherweight champion Brian Ortega taking on the up-and-coming talent Diego Lopes.

The fight that was originally going to be the co-main event, featuring Jamahal Hill and Carlos Ulberg, got swapped out because Hill got hurt.
The call-off of the McGregor versus Chandler showdown has been a foreseeable decision lately. When the event's press conference got canceled abruptly last week, it gave rise to doubts about the fight's possibility. On Thursday, when the UFC started to explore backup options, the occurrence of the event appeared to be almost certainly doomed.
The upcoming match between McGregor and Chandler was expected to mark McGregor's victorious comeback, as he hasn't fought since 2021. However, he'll now have to delay his return to the sport.
It is hopeful that the competition may occur in the future, as Ariel Helwani from MMA Hour stated that talks regarding its postponement to August or September have been happening.
Naturally, the length of time could be altered depending on the seriousness of McGregor's ailment, which White refrained from elaborating on.
Although the UFC 303 lineup has undergone significant changes, the upcoming event promises to be a thrilling spectacle, thanks in large part to the anticipated showdown between Pereira and Procházka. These two prizefighters last squared off in November, with Pereira emerging victorious after securing a technical knockout and winning the light heavyweight championship.
