The rise and fall of Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor, the Irish mixed martial artist, was once a sure-fire hit inside and outside of the Octagon. He was the first fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history to hold two titles at the same time, and he was a walking sensation, with an unprecedented swagger and a high-profile demeanor. He became the face of UFC, Madison Avenue, and the sporting universe in general. He had it all. Or so we thought.

The controversies that derailed his career

However, the very same things that made McGregor a household name were also the progenitors of his downfall. The notorious trash-talking, aggressive behavior, and violent outbursts - both inside and outside the Octagon - got him into hot waters. A series of criminal charges, including assault and breach of the peace, brought his career and reputation crashing down. His losses in the Octagon amplified the damage even more. Only time will tell if McGregor can redeem himself and regain his former glory.
