Coleen Rooney expressed her surprise at the extensive response to her social media post about Rebekah Vardy back in 2019, which resulted in a notable court case regarding defamation.
In October of last year, Coleen Rooney, the spouse of retired footballer Wayne Rooney, claimed that Rebekah Vardy, the spouse of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, revealed personal information from her private Instagram account to The Sun newspaper.
Rooney talked about how surprised he was by the response of the public to the popular post that became viral on the BBC One’s The One Show on Monday, the 16th of October. He was expecting a degree of attention, but never anticipated the high level it achieved. Rooney was genuinely amazed by the extensive coverage the post received.
When asked if she still supports the post, she affirmed that those were her own words and she persists in maintaining that position up to now.
It was difficult, there were moments when I wished it would disappear, but I had to persevere. I had to keep fighting.
"She expressed that it caused a lot of worry and tension," she explained.

Rooney wrote in a post from 2019 that she published a number of untrue stories over a period of five months and checked to see if they were picked up by The Sun newspaper. To her surprise, they were indeed published.

She mentioned, "It was difficult for me to remain silent and not express my views, particularly when the news was leaked, but I had to."

Vardy strongly denied the allegations and took legal action against Rooney for writing damaging statements, but unfortunately Vardy lost the case in the High Court in 2022 because the judge determined that Rooney's statements were mostly accurate.
