Coleen Rooney mentioned that she hardly ever gets to spend time with her husband, Wayne, before she heads into the I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! jungle.
The 38-year-old television star has been wed to former Manchester United player Wayne Rooney since 2008. They have four sons together: Kai, who is 13, Klay, aged 10, Kit, who is seven, and Cass, who is five.
When she was asked about spending a month away from her husband and kids while filming the ITV show in Australia, Rooney mentioned that the family is already somewhat separated.
In an interview with MailOnline, Rooney expressed that she and her husband, the ex-England captain, hardly spend time together because his new role as the manager of Plymouth Argyle, a Championship football team, keeps him away from home frequently.
Instead, Wayne spends the majority of his week in Salcombe, Devon, which is a five-hour drive from his family's home in Cheshire. He makes the trip back on the weekends to visit his wife and kids.
“Wayne returns home weekly, and occasionally even twice, depending on the schedule,” she mentioned. “Typically, he has Sundays free, so he might make it back then.”
"He usually arrives home on Saturday night and stays with us for Sunday, depending on the boys' activities," Rooney noted.
“Our time spent together is now more restricted than ever, especially with all the traveling and other commitments.”
Rooney shared that their family had a lovely day together at their 11-year-old's soccer tournament before she headed off to Australia for I’m a Celebrity.
While Rooney heads into the jungle alongside ex-Strictly contestant Oti Mabuse and Danny Jones from McFly, Wayne will remain in Devon, where their mother Colette will take care of their four boys.

Even with the setup in place, the TV star mentioned that her spouse is very “supportive” of her choice to join the show and shared that he was the last person she called before her phone was taken away.
"I just made sure everything was in order," she said. "So, it was really just a farewell wish – I was curious to find out if the kids made it to school alright."
Rooney is reported to have landed the largest agreement in the show's past, exceeding the contracts of both Farage and host Noel Edmonds, with a payment exceeding £1.5 million.
Before she entered the jungle, Rooney, who recently triumphed in the highly publicized libel case against her by Rebekah Vardy known as “Wagatha Christie,” expressed her desire to put the situation behind her.
"I've been through that before; I've experienced it," she said. "Now, I'm focused on moving ahead and not dwelling on the past. It's something I've always done—facing challenges and then moving on."
“There are greater priorities to focus on when it comes to family and children.”
Rooney will take a similar path to Vardy, who made his debut in the I'm A Celeb jungle back in 2017 and was the third contestant from that group to be sent home.
Vardy expressed her hope that her rival will have to endure some tough challenges on the show, which she humorously described as having to face "bull's penis, ostrich rear, and a slice of humble pie."
"I believe she has always envied my life and is now trying to mimic my path," she noted.
